European man goes into Walmart. He thinks it’s so funny he gets a tattoo of the logo: ‘He’s laughing AT us, not with us’

Since the U.S. is hosting the World Cup this year alongside Canada and Mexico, many Europeans are getting to experience something they usually don’t see in Hollywood movies: Walmart.
Shelves full of endless choices, mega-size products, and enough drinks, snacks, and sauces to overwhelm a person may seem normal to the average American. But for some tourists, the scale of an American Walmart may feel unusual.
One man from Switzerland, TikTok creator @404_sag, found Walmart so fascinating that he eventually turned the store’s logo into a permanent tattoo.
In a series of videos filmed in Texas, he walked through the store pointing out the American products and portion sizes that stood out to him.
Why Was Walmart So Fascinating to Him?
In one video, which got over 6.4 million views, @404_sag walks into Walmart and immediately frames the store as an attraction.
“So we are back in Walmart,” he says. “This is the biggest tourist attraction I can have as a European.”
Then he compares the store to a museum.
“It’s like a museum. Literally like a museum,” he says.
Once inside, the size of the store itself shocks him.
“As you can see, Walmart, it’s huge,” he says. “I’ve been lost here once.”
From there, he starts pointing out the products that feel strange or funny to him, starting with a refrigerated pizza.
“1.26 kilos of pizza,” he says, laughing.
He Finds the Ingredient List Hilarious
Then he moves on to bread and flips the package over to read the ingredient list.
“How many ingredients?” he asks, laughing again. “The ingredients. How many ingredients?”
The size of the meat section also gets him. At one point, he holds up a large package of ground beef and compares it to his arm.
“This is bigger than my future,” he jokes. “You can beat someone up with this piece of meat.”
He also reacts to the size of American grocery staples, including large jars of pickles, a gallon of mayo, three-liter bottles of soda, one-gallon jugs of Arizona tea, and big containers of ice cream.
“Have you ever seen three liters in Europe?” he asks while holding up a bottle of Coca-Cola. “Three liters? Three?”
But one item seems to impress him more than disgust him: a carton of 60 eggs. “I wish we would have this in Europe,” he says.
In another viral video, which also got more than 6 million views, he points out Monster Energy flavors he says he has never seen in Europe.
Then, in a follow-up video that got 1 million views, he shows himself getting the Walmart logo tattooed on his forearm.
How Are European Grocery Stores Different?
The reason Walmart may have felt so strange to him is that grocery shopping is very different in most parts of Europe.
Instead of buying large quantities in one trip, many people buy smaller amounts more often. Grocery stores are within walking distance of where people live, which makes this easy to do.
Specialty shops are also more common in some European countries. Someone might buy bread from a bakery, produce from a fruit and vegetable stand, cheese from a dairy shop, and meat from a butcher. In the U.S., a single big-box store can sell all of that, plus clothes, electronics, car tires, and a patio set.
Package sizes are another big difference. A one-gallon jug of milk or a three-liter bottle of soda may not look strange to Americans, but many European shoppers are more used to smaller cartons and bottles, usually limited to 1 liter, or 33.8 fluid ounces.
There are also food storage differences. Eggs are often sold unrefrigerated in parts of Europe because they are handled differently before sale. In the U.S., eggs are washed in a way that removes their natural protective coating, so they have to be refrigerated.
Then there is the ingredient-list issue. American packaged bread, for example, often includes preservatives, dough conditioners, sweeteners, and other additives to keep it soft and shelf-stable (sometimes for much too long).
Viewers Had Thoughts
In the comments section, viewers were amused by how hard he was laughing at everyday Walmart items.
“He’s laughing AT us, not with us,” one user wrote.
Another said the store was basically entertainment for him.
“Walmart is a comedy show for this guy,” they wrote.
Others understood why the ingredient lists and product sizes stood out.
“Not even the healthy food is healthy,” one person said.
Another admitted the bread moment hit close to home.
“I was embarrassed when he laughed at the laundry list of ingredients in the bread,” they wrote.
