Woman Takes Her Son to the Park, Then Encounters Teens Discussing ‘Golden Showers’, She Considers Homeschooling: ‘Kids Can’t Even Be Kids Anymore’

An unfortunate state of affairs

Bringing a child into this economy is very complicated. Although there are many rewards to being a parent, there are also numerous challenges that can keep you on edge. Despite these difficulties and being aware of them, many people still choose to have children and experience these problems firsthand.

Just a day ago, TikTok user @berkfeinauer uploaded a video where she talked about encountering some kids in a park she visited with her child. She noted that these kids were behaving inappropriately and saying things they shouldn’t be saying at their age. She also discussed the harmful effects such behavior can have on teenagers and how it could influence younger children, including her own son. Additionally, she mentioned her desire to homeschool her child, even though it’s not her first choice, because she doesn’t want her son exposed to such ideas at a young age.

TikTok user @berkfeinauer speaks about the perils of being a parent

Thanks to easy access to mobile phones and the internet, kids these days can find almost anything at their fingertips. While having access to such a vast amount of knowledge can be a good thing, more often than not, kids whose screen time isn’t monitored by adults may end up in trouble. An example of this is @berkfeinauer’s story, which she shared on her TikTok account a day ago. As previously mentioned, in her video, she talks about seeing kids in their early teens at a park she visited with her kid who were discussing “adult” topics, things they really shouldn’t be aware of at their age.

In her video, @berkfeinauer mentioned that she went to a park with her kid last Saturday, where they played on a splash pad. The same day, since the pool was being cleaned, some pre-teen boys were also using the splash pads, but their behavior truly shocked @berkfeinauer. She observed that some boys were standing on top of the water fountains that were shooting water in different directions, and pretending that it was them peeing. @berkfeinauer notes that, while this was disgusting in its own right, she saw something even more repulsive. She noticed another boy with his mouth open, catching the water and saying, “It’s a golden shower.”

Talking about how the incident made her feel, @berkfeinauer in her video said, “I didn’t know what a golden shower was until I was probably 23, 24. I just can’t believe what kids are being taught at home, or, like, their access to the internet is so willy-nilly. It’s just everywhere. I cannot stand it. I don’t want my child to be exposed to, like, such sexual or like, adult content so young. We have to stop giving our kids so much freedom….Teach your kids how to behave around small children, and maybe don’t teach them about golden showers.”

A lot of people have commented under @berkfeinauer’s video

@berkfeinauer’s story about younger boys having access to adult content at a young age and how that negatively impacts them and other kids, many of whom are smaller than them, has resonated with a lot of people on TikTok. Most of them agree with what @berkfeinauer is saying in her video. User @brickhouse.21 wrote, “Yeah it’s sad, kids can’t even be kids anymore.” User @daiszyb said, “I home school my daughters currently have a teenage son that goes to school. The Influence from kids at the school is HORRIBLE!”

Many people shared their own experiences of encountering similar situations. User @rebeccawheeler95 commented, “but homeschooling isn’t gonna stop them learning it. my 4 year was playing with another little kid and he was teaching my kid cuss words.” User @josieperez0825 mentioned, “It’s so bad… my son went to middle school & was SHOCKED by what kids were telling him. I shelter my kids an appropriate amount & I hate worrying about who’s telling them what including with other kids.”

More and more people are turning to homeschooling their kids

According to an article published by Prime Center (Saint Louis University), a new report estimates that more than 3.4 million children in America are homeschooled.

The study was conducted by the National Home Education Research Institute (NHERI), which examined the number of homeschooled students nationwide. NHERI researchers used data from the 2024-2025 school year from 23 different states. They concluded that approximately 3.408 million school-aged children in the United States are homeschooled. Although Missouri was not included in the dataset, NHERI stresses that the estimate remains accurate.
