New Jersey woman leaves new Louis Vuitton sunglasses, medicine box on United Airlines flight from Puerto Rico. Then she sees what they return to her

Forgetting something on a plane is stressful. Finding out that the airline recovered it should be the part where the story gets better. Instead, one New Jersey traveler says her brand-new Louis Vuitton sunglasses vanished somewhere between the United Airlines flight from Puerto Rico and the airport’s lost-and-found process.
After being assured her belongings had been located and told to return the next day, she expected a quick reunion with her expensive shades. What she claims she got back, however, left her staring at the package in disbelief.
What Happened On This United Airlines Flight?
Suzie (@suz__zie) is spilling the tea and almost 40,000 viewers have tuned in to take a sip. Except, they’re all flinching at the scalding temperature.
The story starts when Suzie arrives at Newark Liberty Airport on a Wednesday, coming in from sunny Puerto Rico. After deboarding, she realizes she left her Louis Vuitton sunglasses and medicine pack on the plane. Having already gone through security, Suzie asks bag services for help.
They call the flight crew and as luck would have it, they confirm that they have her belongings. That should be the end of the story, right?
It’s not. According to airport rules one can never figure out, Suzie can’t get her stuff immediately. The flight crew is still on shift, so she has to wait until the next day to come back and retrieve it. They tell her to file a claim and to pick it up at lost-and-found when it’s been delivered.
She does everything to the T, giving specific descriptions about the glasses. It’s only until Sunday that they say it’s available to pick up. However, it seems the lost-and-found employee didn’t get the memo.
What Did She Receive?
Suzie shares how the employee was very “hesitant” to get the glasses. “She almost, like, scoffed at me,” Suzie says.
“She’s like, ‘yeah, we definitely don’t have those, we definitely stole them,’” Suzie says sarcastically.
Nevertheless, she emerges from the back office with Suzie’s package and immediately tells her to look inside. Why?
“Those aren’t Louis Vuitton sunglasses,” says the employee.
Suzie then shows the camera what they gave her instead of her actual sunglasses. As she does so, she shares that she gave a very detailed description of it to the employees and even shows a picture. The one she pulls out of the package is anything but her own pair. It’s a completely different color and shape. Most noticeably, it has no LV logo.
Suzie claims that the first gate agent confirmed they had her belongings, so it means somewhere along the way, someone stole them. Even more frustrating, her medicine pack was right there untouched, when it was together with the pair of sunglasses all along.
Suzie ends the video saying she’s not mad. She admits her love for United and speculates it might just be Newark’s fault.
“It was messed up,” she says.
Is There An Update?
In a clip she posted just a day later than the original, Suzie shares a slight update. Apparently, she had contacted Newark Port Authority Police, and they told her she had a right to file a report because United “specifically claimed” that they had the Louis Vuitton sunglasses.
Not only was she told this on the day, but they reportedly also confirmed they had it in the response to her lost item claim. Suzie shares she also “escalated” it with a supervisor on Sunday, but they just told her they’d get back to her in two days. She even submitted another claim, but as of now, no response yet.
What Should You Do If You Leave Your Items Aboard the Plane?
Suzie isn’t the only one this happened to, and she probably won’t be the last. It’s important to know all the avenues one can take when a situation like this occurs. Per United’s website, they have a set of protocols to follow.
The page has different forms and contact numbers for items lost in transit, boarding, or deboarding. However, they also have a section named “Did we lose your item?”
The first step is to report the issue. The site instructs you to “Report missing items within 24 hours of arrival if you traveled in the U.S., Guam, Puerto Rico, or the U.S. Virgin Islands.”
Unfortunately, there’s not an exact timeline of when Suzie’s sunglasses went missing. However, she can go to the second step and ask for reimbursement. There’s no information on how long the process would take.

Viewers Are Angry
Right off the bat, a viewer says, “[expletive] people wtf is humanity nowadays ?! Loser trash bags.” Suzie replies, “I thought for a SPLIT second there were still decent people in this world.”
A second viewer says, “That’s [expletive] up they packed those glasses for you.” While another shares, “They literally played in your face.”
While many provide advice, one viewer is very detailed. “Nope, don’t repurchase them. File a police report for theft and issue a copy of the complaint while demanding compensation. They have to have the documentation confirming they have your shades. I would also scour local marketplaces/ sites to see if anyone is selling the same pair. Nobody who didn’t really own a pair of LVs would go through the trouble if it wasn’t true,” they share.
Suzie then says, “I didn’t even know that this was a possibility! Thank youuuuu.”
Another says, “Sorry that happened to you! Those sunglasses are at least $400/$500. I have the same ones. I would file a claim with United, explaining you never received your sunglasses. Include your purchase receipt.”
Lastly, one viewer says, “United is always in everyone’s comments but now they don’t wanna say nothing.”
Suzie responds, “They like my stories when I tag them when traveling on insta ALL the time.”
