We All Now Have the Glorious Information That Jacob Anderson and Sam Reid Finish Each Other’s Sentences
That's our Louis and Lestat!

The Vampire Lestat is heading to AMC this week and that means press for the new series is underway. Well, new series is technically “wrong”. It is simply season 3 of Interview With the Vampire, rebranded to highlight Louis’ (Jacob Anderson) maker and lover, Lestat de Lioncourt (Sam Reid).
As part of the press, the two eternal lovers embarked on a journey with GQ that spread through the Guggenheim museum, to a coffee shop, and beyond. But the thing that I (and many fans online) have clocked is how in-sync actors Jacob Anderson and Sam Reid are.
GQ’s Trishna Rikhy noted at the beginning of the profile how Reid and Anderson would finish each other’s sentences but nothing quite prepared me for how true that was. Right off the bat, Reid is talking about an art piece they see and Anderson supplies him “Like a dagger,” when Reid tries to figure out exactly what word he’s looking for.
While that is, often, how friends work, what makes this back and forth special to me, a fan of the show, is Reid and Anderson’s ability to connect with and think like the other. It is probably why the two are such great actors for both of Anne Rice’s immortal creations.
It also helps that, as creator Rolin Jones said to Rikhy, the two are selfless with each other as performers. “One is in the front, and one is pushing behind. They’re both so selfless about it. And they’re a real support for each other. It’s very beautiful to watch,” Jones said of the switch from Louis’ POV to Lestat’s in The Vampire Lestat. Probably also helps with the finishing each other’s sentences thing too.
They really are our Louis and Lestat

There is something special about Rice’s vampire world. There’s a reason these characters have been beloved for the last 47 years. For many, myself included, see Lestat de Lioncourt perform songs on stage in New York for the premiere of The Vampire Lestat felt like something Rice would have loved. I say Lestat because Reid really did transform into the vampire right before our eyes.
The point is: These are have something special on Interview With the Vampire and The Vampire Lestat. It feels almost as if the last 40+ years have been waiting for these two to take on this semi-toxic romance. And maybe that’s because Reid and Anderson have become best friends and complete each others sentences.
But one thing has been made clear through the press tour for The Vampire Lestat: People are obsessed with the AMC adaptations of Rice’s novels and it isn’t hard to see why. They are addicting in the best of ways and a huge part of that is because of what Reid and Anderson bring to the roles.
