Man books baecation to Miami. Then his girl crashes out when she finds out the Airbnb is in Ft. Lauderdale: ‘It’s only 45 minute drive’

A man plans and pays for a Florida vacation with his partner. When she realizes they’re staying 45-minutes from Miami in Ft. Lauderdale, she feels as though he tricked her.
In a video with over 1.2 million views, TikToker Wunderr (@wunderr_) stands outside of his Ft. Lauderdale Airbnb, holding a digital camera.
His partner complains that they’re not actually in Miami, despite the TikToker telling her that was their destination.
“It’s a 45 minute drive. That’s not bad!” he exclaims. “It’s better pricing out here.”
Their Florida baecation quickly turns sour
The woman insists that she doesn’t “care about the pricing,” questioning his financial situation. He replies that he wanted to budget smartly for the trip.
On-screen text reads, “I booked shawty a surprise trip to Miami and she mad our bnb in Ft. Lauderdale.”
The couple continues to argue on their Florida trip. In a follow-up video, the TikToker films them arguing about whether he should compensate her for the days she took off work. He points out that he paid for the entire trip, so he shouldn’t be responsible for her lost wages.
“She wants me to pay her whole paycheck because I asked her to come on vacation to me,” he says. She replies, “Yes, that makes the most sense…I still got bills to pay.”
In the comments of the viral video, viewers question the woman’s ungrateful attitude after the TikToker paid for all of her vacation expenses.
“I would’ve been just as grateful,” one writes.
Another says, “See I’m not seeing the problem… 45 minutes really isn’t that bad when prices are ASTRONOMICAL for vacations.”
“I would of been hype that he booked a surprise trip,” a third comments.
Is Ft. Lauderdale just as nice as Miami?
Others suggest that Ft. Lauderdale isn’t a downgrade from Miami.
A commenter suggests, “Gurl as someone who lived in Miami Fort Lauderdale more of a vibe anyway.”
A second says, “Fort Lauderdale is so much nicer than Miami… coming from someone who was born and raised in Miami.”
Locals in the r/Miami subreddit compare the two cities, agreeing that Ft. Lauderdale is a great vacation spot.
“It’s like Miami Lite, everything is slightly less in FTL, but less can mean better for many people, because it’s also less chaotic. I like it there. Overall though you will absolutely feel like you’re in the same metro area,” one writes.
“Way less people, way less construction. The beaches are the same,” another says.
However, others say they prefer Miami.
“Fort Lauderdale is a lot of fun but doesn’t hold a candle to Miami imo. It depends on your interests,” a commenter on the subreddit suggests.
