Woman looks at her Xfinity security camera footage. What she sees in her backyard is giving her—and everyone else—chills

Ever since home security systems with cameras became so popular, people have captured all kinds of strange moments on them.

Some recent examples include one woman who said she caught two strangers acting suspiciously near her apartment entrance. Another was excited to receive her HydroJugs, only to check her security camera and see what the delivery driver did to her package. One man also said he caught thieves stealing Amazon packages from his porch.

What many people also claim to capture recently, however, is something paranormal.

That’s what TikTok creator Casey Carter (@misscaseycarter) says her Xfinity home camera caught on a Saturday morning.

What Did Her Xfinity Camera Catch?

In a clip she posted, which got over 2.2 million views, a blurry shape that looks almost like a swarm of insects can be seen moving across Carter’s porch before the video cuts off. Carter has a sentimental theory about what it could have been.

“Caught this on our camera and though it may seem scary, we truly believe it was our dog Bolt who passed away last year… he never got to make it to our new home so we think he was just stopping by and checking out the new deck and yard,” she wrote in the video’s caption. “We miss you Young Boi.”

What Could It Be?

While Carter believes the shape may have been connected to her late dog, viewers had other theories.

The shape could be a swarm of bugs, something passing very close to the camera lens, a camera glitch, or another explainable visual distortion. Some commenters leaned toward that kind of explanation.

“(spoil sport suggestion coming) Pretty sure that’s just a very small bug climbing across the lens making it really really blurry,” one user wrote.

“A swarm of bees,” another suggested.

Others, however, supported Carter’s theory.

“I think it’s a dog!” one commenter wrote. “We had our cat ghosting around our apt my daughters and I all saw her at different times and never told each other right away then one day then we were like omg you saw her too?!”

Another viewer argued that not everything can be easily explained. “It’s not a bug,” they wrote. “Why is it so hard for some people to accept the fact that there are things beyond our understanding on earth?”

Strange Things Caught On Camera

Carter is far from the only person to claim a home security camera caught something unusual.

On Reddit, one person shared what they described as a strange clip from their girlfriend’s kitchen Ring camera. According to the poster, the camera picked up a “bright human looking thing.”

“Camera went off at 1:33 picked this up,” the user wrote. “Nothing of it coming or going just this… and don’t ask I already checked all odds and ends… no this was no one in the house. What could this be? camera glitch?”

They added that the clip also showed bright orbs floating around, though they were unsure how much they believed in the spiritual explanations around orbs.

Even Ring has leaned into the phenomenon. According to a PR Newswire report, the company once received thousands of customer-submitted videos that appeared to show “ghosts” on camera.

Some examples include a mysterious object floating in a toy store, another ghost dog, a child ghost at a preschool, and other scary footage. While all of these may have a more innocent explanation, many wholeheartedly believe that they are genuine.
