Experiencing a traumatic event like your house getting broken into isn’t something you recover from quickly. It’s likely that afterwards, you start questioning every interaction and fear for your safety more than you ever previously did.

That’s exactly what happened to TikToker Dev (@devmcdaddy), who took to the platform to ask if a recent event at her apartment complex’s pool warranted worrying. Her video got over 511,900 views.

What Happened At The Pool?

“I need somebody to tell me if I should be concerned,” Dev begins.

She explains that she went to her apartment complex pool, which is located right below her balcony. At first, there were only two other women there.

“One of them’s taking pictures of her friend,” she says. “Her friend’s in the heels. Whatever.”

Dev says she kept to herself and went to the opposite side of the pool to lie down, while making sure she stayed aware of her surroundings.

“I have my sunglasses on,” she says. “I open my eyes, and I’ll close them just to kinda be aware of my surroundings, knowing that there’s two other people at the pool.”

Eventually, she says, both women started walking toward her. One of them approached her directly.

“Hey, ‘Oh, my god, you’re so pretty,’” Dev recalls the woman telling her.

She thanked her, and the woman kept talking. “She’s like, ‘So I, like, I have to pee really bad. You’re so pretty,’” Dev says.

Dev says the woman eventually explained that both she and her friend needed to use the bathroom. Dev then offered to watch their belongings.

“And she’s like, ‘Oh, my gosh, please. Like, if you don’t mind,’” Dev recalls. “And I was like, ‘Yeah, it’s OK.’”

At that point, the interaction seemed harmless. The women went to the bathroom, returned, and Dev says she stopped worrying about it.

Things Got More Uncomfortable

Then one of them came back over. “I just wanted to come over here to say thank you,” Dev recalls the woman saying.

Dev says she could tell both women appeared to be under the influence, noting that they were holding red Solo cups.

The woman offered to give her a hug, which Dev agreed to, though she found it unusual. “A little odd, but whatever,” she says.

But after the hug, the woman didn’t leave. Instead, Dev says she continued standing near her and talking.

“She’s still talking, like, just going on and on and on,” Dev says. “And I could tell… she’s drunk.”

The woman then told Dev that she had only met the friend she was with two weeks earlier, but wanted Dev to meet her, too.

Dev declined. “I was like, ‘Oh, no, like, it’s OK. I’m actually about to go back inside of my apartment,’” she recalls.

Instead of walking past the women to get back to her place, Dev says she took the long way around the pool to avoid them. She then went to a different pool because she was annoyed by the interaction.

Then She Checked Her Ring Camera

Not even 10 minutes later, Dev says she checked her Ring camera because something felt off.

She saw the two women walking past the entrance to her unit, noticing the camera and pointing.

“She points at my apartment,” Dev says while showing the footage. “And then she goes and hides around the corner, so she’s out of camera view.”

In the Ring camera footage, the women eventually disappear from view as they’re walking past.

Dev says she also checked earlier Ring footage from when the two women first walked by her apartment on their way to the pool. At that point, she says they did not seem to notice it.

“They did not acknowledge my apartment at all,” she says. “Like, didn’t even look at my door.”

That detail made her more uneasy, especially because of what she had gone through before.

“So I’m a little concerned, considering, if you’re new here, my last apartment got broken into while I was home,” Dev says. “And that’s the only reason why I’m in this apartment is because of safety.”

She ends the video by asking viewers whether she had reason to worry.

“And so it’s a little concerning to me,” she says. “So should I be concerned?”

Not the First Time Ring Cameras Capture Odd Behavior

The popularity of home security systems has exploded, with some data reporting 61% of U.S. households having at least one security camera.

Naturally, people have caught some concerning moments through them in recent years. One couple, for example, showed their neighbor approaching their apartment door, screaming and demanding they stop making noise, using threatening remarks. They weren’t even home.

In another case, a woman who had just said goodbye to her date caught him getting upset over not getting invited inside. Plenty of people have also caught their delivery drivers acting inappropriately.

Commenters Think She Should Be Concerned

In the comments section, most viewers agreed the women’s behavior was suspicious.

“I would be concerned,” one wrote. “How does she know which apt is yours especially if you don’t recall seeing them before.

“Super weird,” offered another. “I’d contact the leasing office.”

“As an introvert and a non-hugger this is a nightmare,” a third commenter wrote.

@devmcdaddy I really try and be friendly to strangers but people are making it hard… #greenscreenvideo #stranger #creepy #lockyourdoors #2ndamendment ♬ original sound – dev
