‘I hope his career ends’: U.S. Senator’s daughter went on record saying her father is a paid agent for a foreign state

The human cost of political estrangement.

A TikTok video from September 2025 has resurfaced, reigniting a family feud that’s become a symbol of America’s deepest political divides. Maddie Block, the 29-year-old daughter of New Mexico Republican State Senator Jay Block accused her father of selling out to a foreign government. She calls him a “total loser” for defending Israel and downplaying civilian casualties in Gaza.

Maddie speculates that her father and other New Mexico lawmakers were essentially on a “propaganda trip” to Israel. Her viral video is raw, unfiltered, and brutally personal. She questions her father’s motives, his integrity, and whether he’s even working for his own constituents anymore. In 2026, as debates over U.S. support for Israel continue to fracture families and friendships, her words feel more relevant than ever.

Her frustration isn’t just about policy – it’s about principle. “How much are they paying my dad? How much is his soul?” she asks. “’Cuz it seems like he has sold his soul to the devil.” The video ends with a blunt declaration: “I just genuinely hope this will be the end of my dad’s political career.”

Maddie’s TikTok is more than just a personal attack

Jay Block, for his part, has pushed back hard. He called the trip an educational opportunity focused on water technology, security, and cultural exchange and denied receiving any personal payments from Israel, insisting the delegation was bipartisan and fully funded by the Israeli government, not New Mexico taxpayers.

But Maddie isn’t buying it. In a follow-up interview with Teen Vogue, she doubled down, questioning why a state senator would even be involved in foreign policy discussions. “As a state senator, to my understanding, his job is limited to the state of New Mexico,” she said.

Wtf does Netanyahu have to do with any local issues in New Mexico? Additional points of clarification: My dad is JAY Block, not John Block. Also, r*cist and/or antis*mitic comments will not be tolerated on my videos! #republican #newmexico #democrat #politics #politicstiktok

Maddie’s criticism isn’t happening in a vacuum. Polls show younger Americans, especially progressives under 50, are far more critical of Israel’s actions in Gaza than older generations. For many in her age group, U.S. support for Israel isn’t just a policy debate, it’s a moral issue. And when public figures like Jay Block defend Israel’s military actions, it doesn’t just spark political arguments, it severs personal relationships.

This isn’t the first time a politician’s family has become a public flashpoint over Israel

Rep. Ritchie Torres, a pro-Israel Democrat, has said he’s no longer on speaking terms with some family members because of his stance. Meanwhile, conservative commentator Christian Walker publicly criticized his father, Senate candidate Herschel Walker, in 2022 over abortion allegations. Vivian Wilson, transgender daughter of Elon Musk, has repeatedly called out her father’s politics, including his support for what she called the “cartoonishly evil” Trump administration.

Maddie has used her platform to hold Block accountable in a way that’s rare in politics. She has made it clear that her goal isn’t just to shame her father but to inform voters. “People in his district or people in his state should be aware of those things,” she said. “I have the unique perspective of being his daughter. I do know him pretty well, and I do know his views pretty well, just because I was raised by him with those views.”

Maddie says their relationship began to fracture after the fall of Roe v. Wade in 2022, when she saw her father celebrating the decision. “I just remember thinking, there’s going to be so many women who are hurt by this,” she said. “To be anti-abortion, and to want to force women to have babies that they either don’t want or can’t take care of, and yet he doesn’t speak to his own children – the hypocrisy to me was astounding.”

COVID-19 deepened the rift. Maddie says Block was “so anti-vax and not wanting to wear masks,” framing public health measures as “some form of government tyranny.” By the time he took the trip to Israel, their relationship was already beyond repair. “I don’t think there’s going to be really any hope of repairing that relationship,” she admitted. “Even though I would love for that to happen.”

Maddie’s story reflects how politics has invaded every corner of life

Social media has turned private disagreements into public spectacles, and for the children of politicians, there’s no escaping the fallout. An NYT report from October 2025 quotes Ioana Literat, a professor of communication at Columbia University, as saying: “Social media has had a profound impact in terms of taking these disagreements public. Members of Gen Z don’t have to rely on traditional media gatekeepers or family approval to be heard.”

For Maddie, the decision to speak out wasn’t easy. She’s not a politician or an expert, just a regular person with a front-row seat to her father’s decisions. But she sees those decisions as harmful, and she’s not willing to stay silent. “Knowing what his views are and that he can cause real harm, that’s what compels me to speak out,” she said. Her story also raises bigger questions about foreign influence in U.S. politics.

Congressional delegations to Israel aren’t new, but Maddie’s accusations tap into some uneasy  questions. If a state senator’s job is to focus on local issues, why are they being flown halfway across the world to meet with foreign leaders? And if the trip is paid for by a foreign government, how much does that shape the narrative back home?

For now, Maddie and Jay Block remain estranged. Block is still in office, still defending his record, and still dismissing his daughter’s claims. But the video hasn’t faded from public memory. In fact, it’s only gained more attention as the debate over Israel and Gaza continues to dominate headlines.
