South Carolina woman meets Jonah Hill during El Salvador retreat, tells her fiancé, then ends her six-month engagement

This isn’t the kind of story you hear every day. Just a day ago, @harpsurfs uploaded a video on her TikTok where she talked about how actor Jonah Hill contributed to her breakup with her boyfriend, with whom she was engaged for six months and was planning to marry. Although he didn’t have a direct role, his passive contributions were enough to significantly impact @harpsurfs’s life and, obviously, her ex-fiancé’s as well.
TikTok user @harpsurfs began her story by saying that in her early twenties, she was engaged to her “serious” boyfriend at the time, and they were moving from Charleston, South Carolina, to LA. So, two weeks before the move, @harpsurfs decided to go on a retreat with her friends to a “teeny tiny surf town” called El Tunco in El Salvador, and surprisingly, she met Jonah Hill while surfing in the water.
TikTok user @harpsurfs talks about how Jonah Hill ended her relationship
As previously mentioned, @harpsurfs, whose real name is Harper, was engaged to her boyfriend when she was in her early twenties. Before they moved from South Carolina to LA, she went on a trip with friends to El Tunco in El Salvador. One day, Harper and her friends heard people talking about spotting Jonah Hill at Point Break the day before. The next day, when they went to surf, Harper and her friends paddled for about thirty minutes before spotting Jonah Hill.
Jonah was being friendly to everyone and introducing himself. At one point, he approached Harper and introduced himself to her as he did with others. They talked briefly about where they were staying and other topics before Jonah went back to his own business, and Harper resumed hers. The following day, while Harper was paddling in the water, Jonah Hill appeared again, this time directly approaching her. He told her he had a dream about her, and when she asked what it was about, he said she was just smiling in his dream and that she had a beautiful smile. He then went his way again. That night, Harper’s retreat group signed her and her friends up for a breathwork class, where she met Jonah Hill once more. This time, he came straight to her and sat beside her on the mat, even though her friend had already placed her belongings there. Harper said the class lasted three hours and was the “most insane” experience of her life, making her feel a lot of emotions, including sorrow, which caused her to sob. She was also “mortified” because Jonah sat just three inches away from her. Afterward, Jonah talked with Harper and her friends about what was happening in his life, including a film he had just finished. Harper then mentions in the video that she ran into Jonah a few more times before eventually heading back home. She was understandably very excited to tell her boyfriend about meeting Jonah Hill when she returned, but he wasn’t too thrilled. Instead of being happy for her, Harper’s boyfriend fought with her, drank a glass of bourbon, and left the house, slamming the door behind him. He returned 24 hours later with hickeys all over his neck, which led Harper to break up with him.
TikTok user @harpsurfs’s story has gained significant momentum online
For a story as wild as @harpsurfs’s, there’s bound to be some chatter. Her video, at this point, has more than 395 thousand views along with thousands of comments, shares, and saves. User @strazarthings wrote, “Jonah Hill casually saving your life.” User @ilovetrains46 commented, “Thank god for Jonah hill saving you from that red flag.”
User @jdoll100 said, “Kinda disappointed that the reason wasn’t because you left him for Jonah Hill.” User @anti_christie added, “I’m gonna choose to believe you and Jonah Hill are soulmates or something idk girl.”
