Man opts for McDonald’s drive-thru late night, then when he is about to order, an employee pulls one of the most ‘diabolical’ moves on him
On July 11, 2024, TikTok user @nickfromohio posted a video describing his experience with a McDonald’s drive-thru. In the video, he explains that it was late at night when he chose to visit a McDonald’s drive-thru because he was sure nothing else would be open.
He was in the drive-in, ready to order, when the employee came out, told him the store was still open, and asked him to place an order. As @nickfromohio looked through the menu and was ready to order, he realized there might be no one on the other end to take his order. So, curious, he called on them, but he wasn’t getting any response from the other side. Then, ultimately, he was able to speak to an employee, but they told him the store was closed, leaving Nick confused about what had happened.

TikTok user @nickfromohio had a “diabolical” McDonald’s experience. In a video he uploaded, Nick recounts returning from a friend’s place late at night and deciding to stop at McDonald’s, as it was one of the few places open at that hour. He pulls up to the drive-thru just before closing time, expecting to order food. The worker on the other side tells him the restaurant is still open and asks him to check the menu to place his order. As Nick reviews the menu, the employee briefly steps away, but when Nick is ready to order, he calls the employee, only to get no response. After further checking, an employee finally reveals that the restaurant had closed, leaving Nick speechless, mostly because he couldn’t believe what had just happened.
After this, Nick drove ahead and tried to talk to an employee or someone, but he was rejected because a person surprisingly put up a sign on the window right in front of him stating that the restaurant was closed. Regarding the incident, @nickfromohio warns his viewers against going to a restaurant’s drive-thru during closing hours, as there’s a high chance they won’t be able to order what they want.

Many people commented under @nickfromohio’s video, where he talks about the “diabolical” treatment he received from McDonald’s employees. Several said that Nick was in the wrong for driving to McDonald’s just minutes before closing time. User @realitydad1 wrote, “You were in the wrong.” User @bholly1954 said, “You are the ahole for driving up at close. lol. Sorry but I am proud of them for handling it the way they did.”
Many food industry workers also joined the comments on @nickfromohio’s video to share their thoughts. User @tr4nnysmithapples said, “As someone who is a cook that works at McDonald’s majority of the time everything is cooked to order in like the last 45 minutes so if you pulled up two minutes before there’s literally nothing in.” User @kenz_faria08 added, “for me, I have working fast food for a long time and can understand why did she did that because she wants to get out on time so she doesn’t get in trouble for taking too long to close.”
What are the hours of operation of McDonald’s?
McDonald’s is one of the few restaurants that remain open past ten. According to Eat Hours, McDonald’s restaurants throughout the United States generally open at 5 am Monday to Friday and close between 10 pm and 11 pm, except on Friday, when it is 11 pm to 12 am. On Saturdays and Sundays, the restaurant opens at 6 am and closes between 11 pm and 12 am on Saturdays and between 10 pm and 11 pm on Sundays.
There might be timing differences between when inside dining closes and when drive-thru ordering closes at McDonald’s. Usually, inside dining closes around 9 pm to 10 pm, while the drive-thru is open until between 10:00 pm and 24 hours.
