Woman goes shopping at Zara. Then she sees a new jean type. What is ‘carrot fit’?: ‘I’m officially a senior citizen’

With how fast-moving everything feels lately, it’s easy to fall behind and suddenly feel out of touch at any age above 25
That’s what one woman experienced while shopping for jeans at Zara, and she decided to post about it on TikTok.
In her video, which has garnered over 7.1 million views, TikTok creator @billy.boy.cocker questions what she’s looking at.
“I’m officially a senior citizen because wtf is a carrot fit?” she wrote in the video’s text overlay while filming a light-wash pair of jeans.
“Carrot fit jeans, boots with the furrr,” she joked in the caption.
What Are ‘Carrot Fit’ Pants?
While the name might sound new, the style itself isn’t, and Zara did not come up with it. In fact, a Reddit user was curious about it 12 years ago and asked r/malefashionadvice to explain the fit.
Carrot fit jeans are designed with a slightly dropped waist and a more relaxed fit. They’re looser through the hips and thighs, before tapering down toward the ankle.
The pants are more relaxed than straight-leg jeans but not as rounded as barrel styles, often ending slightly above the ankle for a cropped look.
Nowadays, the look resembles something you’d expect a businesswoman to wear to a meeting, similar to business-casual pants.
Commenters Are Entertained
“I dunno what kinda grocery store [expletive] is going on these days,” one person wrote, attaching a photo of a label that read “Porkchop wide leg.”
“Goes great with a pea coat,” another added.
“I just looked at carrot fit jeans and.. EW WTF IS THAT… those jeans are horrible,” a third chimed in.
“Let me know if there’s a potato fit,” another joked.
Questionable Fashion Trends of the Last Two Decades
Carrot fit jeans may not be the only questionable fashion choice to have emerged recently.
Most of us who remember the 2010s can recall harem pants, for example. The baggy trousers have way too much extra fabric bunched up at the crotch. Most can agree it wasn’t a good look.
Then there was the trend of attaching feathers to hair as an accessory, which didn’t have a long life past 2012. On this list, we can also put wedge sneakers, which were an either-you-love-it-or-hate-it statement piece.
Each decade has its regrettable fashion moments, and we’ll probably look back 10 years from now and come up with a similar list.
