Plenty of people have pie on March 14th and act like they’re being all clever about it. “Oh look at how funny I am. I’m having pie for Pi Day.” I can appreciate a good pun, but I prefer to appreciate a great pun. Lucky for me, Shannon at a periodic table has provided such a pun with her delicious looking Apple Pi.
Not willing to settle for your standard pie pun, Shannon decided to make an apple pie out of pi by ensuring that the filling was made out of numbers, and the crust adorned with them. These are not just any numbers, of course, but the first couple dozen numbers of pi. The pi pie was not only a labor of love, but also a entry into the Pi Pie Day Competition 2012. I haven’t seen any of the other entrants, but I don’t need to either. Nothing could conceivably beat this bad boy.
