Adam Scott Wants to Talk to This Iconic Director About One of His Famous Films [EXCLUSIVE]

Sometimes actors are just like us and they are fans of their fellow actors and directors. Throughout the years, actor Adam Scott has made his love of movies very clear so it shouldn’t surprise anyone that he was at the Steven Spielberg event at SXSW. The funny part? His movie was also premiering around the same time.

Scott was at the festival with two movies, HOKUM and The Saviors. As I was sitting in the Spielberg event, I got a text that I could cover the carpet for The Saviors if I wanted to but I was already committed to Spielberg. So I had to politely pass. As it happened, I looked up to see Adam Scott walking into the same event I was at. To be fair, he did leave early to go to his own premiere but it was funny that it happened.

But seeing Scott there and knowing how he loves movies and directors like Spielberg was wonderful because it showed that he wasn’t just an actor who did it for the fame or the money. He is doing it because he loves storytelling.

At the carpet for HOKUM, I got to speak with Scott about the new horror film and his time at SXSW debuting two films. And, of course, Spielberg. “It’s so exciting. It’s like going to Disneyland or something, you know?” he said. “Getting to watch Steven Spielberg talk about Close Encounters and talk about his career kind of at large. Yesterday was really amazing. And being like 10 feet away from him and watching, I mean, if I could get an hour to sit down and talk about Temple of Doom with him, I would love it. But it was incredible. It was an honor to be there.”

Who wouldn’t want to sit down with Steven Spielberg?

For certain fans of Spielberg, there is nothing more exciting than a new film from the director. I am one of those people and what was fascinating to see at SXSW was how many creatives were there to watch Spielberg talk. Daniel Kwan of the Daniels was there, Scott was next to Robert Rodriguez, and they all were captivated by Spielberg’s chat with Sean Hennessy.

And look, I would watch Spielberg and Scott doing a podcast together. Especially if that podcast was about the Indiana Jones movies. But it is nice to see just how excited Scott was to talk about Spielberg’s work. As well as his very scary and great new film, HOKUM.
