Trump brags about 100% MAGA approval in a CNN poll, but the internet strikes again

In his second term as President of the United States, Donald Trump has talked a lot about his approval ratings, I mean a lot, mostly because they have dropped to record lows since he took office. Most of the time, when he brags about his high ratings, he’s actually lying. But surprisingly, when he brought up the topic again recently, he wasn’t completely untruthful, although he wasn’t entirely honest either.
A video is currently going viral on social media, especially on X (formerly Twitter), showing Donald Trump interacting with reporters outside the White House. The video is from a recent exchange, where a reporter asks Trump to comment on whether his actions had the backing of his MAGA base and Republicans, especially now that it’s alleged he was planning to send 2,500 Marines to the “Middle East.” The reporter questions whether such a move could potentially affect the unity among his supporters. As expected, Trump did not answer the question directly but instead enthusiastically claimed to have a 100 percent approval rating among supporters, according to CNN. Regarding the deployment of Marines to the Middle East, Trump said he couldn’t reveal details to the public.
Trump’s claim of a 100% approval rating is not accurate
While Trump recently claimed he has a 100 percent approval rating among his followers, based on a CNN poll, that isn’t entirely true. The 100 percent approval figure might be credible, but CNN was not the source of the poll; it merely reported on one conducted by NBC News.
A 100 percent approval rating is a huge number, but it’s important to remember that many MAGA supporters are already Trump allies. Their support for him, regardless of recent actions, especially concerning Iran, isn’t shocking. Still, it’s somewhat surprising, given that the group was previously believed to be experiencing internal divisions.
CNN analyst was shocked by Trump’s approval rating numbers.
When the numbers appeared on the screen showing Trump had a 100 percent approval rating among MAGA members, it stunned CNN’s chief data analyst, Harry Enten, who was reporting on it and showed clear signs of discomfort. Nevertheless, he reported on the data and deemed the numbers revolutionary.
He said, “Sometimes you look at the polling data, and there are numbers that just jump off the screen at you, and this is one of those. You don’t have to be a mathematical genius to know you can’t go higher than one hundred percent.” He added, “Now, there are some Republicans who disapprove of Donald John Trump, but they are not members of the Make America Great Again movement. The bottom line is this: if you are a member of MAGA, you approve of Donald Trump.”
