DC Debuts Absolute Green Arrow, Black Canary, & Catwoman (and They Look Cool as Hell)

After breaking records and shattering fans’ expectations, DC’s Absolute Universe is about to bring in some new heroes.
On Thursday, as part of their presentation at the ComicsPro convention, DC finally unveiled new details surrounding the next phase of their Absolute Universe. Absolute Green Arrow and Absolute Catwoman, two miniseries that were announced during last year’s San Diego Comic Con and New York Comic Con, have now been officially solicited for the summer of 2026.
Absolute Green Arrow, which will be written by Pornsak Pichetshote with art by Rafael Albuquerque, will arrive first on Wednesday, May 20th. The covers and solicitation confirm that the series’ titular character will, in fact, be Oliver Queen… despite his very violent death during the Absolute Evil one-shot that was released last fall. Yes, Absolute Green Arrow will be some sort of zombie, and it will be up to the Absolute version of Dinah Lance / Black Canary to investigate him. Given Dinah and Ollie’s decades of (often romantic) history in the comics, it will be interesting to see exactly how that unfolds in this new status quo.

“Without the trick arrows… without the money… without mercy, what’s left is the Absolute Hunter!” the solicitation reads. “A serial killer is slaughtering corrupt billionaires, and the only clue to his identity is the green arrows protruding from the victims’ bodies. Executive protection specialist Dinah Lance, also known as Absolute Black Canary, is assigned to uncover the murderer’s identity as she investigates a list of suspects drawn from the ranks of DC’s most dangerous archers. Each one is uniquely connected to a recently murdered Oliver Queen. A deadly mystery unfolds in this urban horror reimagining of the Emerald Archer’s mythos, brought to life by Eisner Award–winners Pornsak Pichetshote and Rafael Albuquerque.”
Variant covers for Absolute Green Arrow #1 will be from Gerald Parel, Guillem March, Tula Lotay, and Reiko Murakami.

Absolute Catwoman!
Just a few weeks later, on Wednesday June 10th, DC will officially launch Absolute Catwoman #1. The series will co-written by Che Grayson and Scott Snyder, with art by Bengal, and will spin out the adventures of Selina Kyle / Catwoman, whose status quo has been radically different in the pages of Absolute Batman. In this new universe, Selina has all of the wealth and resources that are usually afforded to Batman… and this six-issue miniseries will explore what happens when that “begins to collapse.”

“With all the wealth…with all the gear…with all the skills, she is the Absolute Apex Predator!” the solicitation reads. “Selina Kyle has carved a good life for herself. Through her ingenuity and skills, she has become the greatest thief the world has ever known. With high-tech gear and weaponry, there is no place too secure for Catwoman. But when someone from her past comes knocking at her door, everything she has built begins to collapse. To survive, Selina must unravel a mystery that takes her across the globe and deep into the shadows of the Absolute Universe.”
Variant covers for Absolute Catwoman #1 will be provided by Kaare Andrews, Mateus Manhanini, and David Nakayama.

Additionally, DC announced that some sort of event miniseries centered around the Absolute Universe will debut in Q4 of 2026. As Snyder put it, “You will not have to explain to customers what a crossover is.” With the villains of the universe already co-opting the name “Justice League”, and Wonder Woman and Batman recently crossing paths and deciding to form an alliance, there are a lot of directions that that can go in.
As mentioned above, Absolute Green Arrow #1 will arrive on Wednesday, May 20th, and will be followed by Absolute Catwoman #1 on Wednesday, June 10th.
