Sorry to the Byler fans, it isn’t looking good for this Stranger Things ship

Stranger Things fans, if you’ve been rooting for “Byler,” go ahead and look away! A new interview with Noah Schnapp might be pouring cold water on the popular ship. Watch What Happens Live settled down with the Netflix star to talk about Stranger Things 5. During their conversation, that crush Mike is still a hot topic of conversation among the fans. Especially with the revelations from volume one of the final season, some people are hoping for a happy ending. While that doesn’t seem to be the Duffer Brothers style, that isn’t stopping that wishful thinking. But these new comments from Schnapp might!

“I mean, look, it’s like a real authentic representation of a queer kid in the 80s,” Schnapp admitted. “I’ve dealt with that myself, like being in love with my best friend, and maybe they don’t love you back or they feel differently. I’m not gonna spoil anything but I think the Duffers close it really well.”

In essence, things aren’t looking too good for the Byler dreams of some dedicated fans. Will and Mike have been a constant source of questioning in the fandom. It’s been multiple seasons since viewers sussed out that Will had a crush on his friend. That heartfelt gift last season kind of sealed the deal. But, with that long talk with Robin in Stranger Things 5, we might have seen as good as it’s going to get for Schnapp’s character.

So friends it’s safe to say that the ending to Stranger Things 5 is going to be controversial no matter how the series decides to bow out. This is unquestionably, the biggest show on Netflix and with it a massive audience has been invested over all of these seasons. Subplots like Will and Mike have powered this fandom for years now. Comments like the one above from Snap certainly fan the flames of speculation Both ways.

Some viewers want Eleven and Mike to end up together, and others want Byler to be the endgame. Despite all of our yapping online, the truth awaits on Netflix in about a week. Tudum sat down with Schnapp to talk about his character taking ownership of his sexuality and what that means from in the future after Volume 1 was released. It sounds like the actor Really relished being able to tell this story.

“I’m excited to see Will come into his own and be more sure of himself and see where that takes him. He’s more than just the kid who got kidnapped, and this season you see what’s beyond that and the layers beneath him,” Schnapp mused. “I’m excited to see him exploring his identity and interacting with his friends and understanding more of his connection to the Upside Down.”
