‘Prices are not way down’: A Republican just broke Trump’s illusion wide open

On November 5, President Donald Trump spoke live and brazenly lied to the American public.

“Grocery prices are way down,” he said in Miami. He was speaking on bringing back the American Dream.

Of course, anybody who has had the misfortune of stepping into a grocery store within the last six months alone knows how untrue that is. If anything, prices have continued to rise.

Users on X were in agreement.

Said Representative Thomas Massie (R), “Grocery prices are not way down. The only way to reverse inflation is to quit spending more money than we bring in, which means we must cut spending. The big beautiful bill increased spending.”

“I’m not a democrat and food prices are RISING. I’m buying bare minimum groceries to survive,” said one user.

It’s easy to fact-check Trump on this issue. Back in October, when Trump once again stated the same thing, CNN confirmed that was untrue. Not much, if anything, has changed since then.

Prices are rising. That is just a fact. And people across both parties are noticing it. People are having to make decisions in the grocery store about how much they can afford, or what they should go without, if they had to. They are decisions nobody should have to be making in a country like the United States.

Like Rep. Massie said, the only way to counteract this is to stop spending. Unfortunately, the “Big Beautiful Bill” did just the opposite.
