‘V/H/S 99’: Release Date, Plot, Trailer & More

We'll probably rewind and rewatch this one

Anthology horror continues to deliver (and be impressive) in the way it crafts stories. For TV, it’s been Creepshow, Tales from the Crypt, American Horror Story, Slasher, American Horror Stories, and more. Meanwhile, in anthology horror movies, there’s even more goodness to devour. Starting with the V/H/S film franchise and what it’s proven about horror shorts.

After the success and love that V/H/S 94 received (because well, it was pretty great), Shudder was likely elated—with the film drawing in a lot of viewers. Therefore, another V/H/S film isn’t a surprise to me. And taking advantage of the ’90s as a time period is pure gold. What can you expect for this upcoming entry? Keep on scrolling.

V/H/S/99 Plot and release date

Official synopsis:

“V/H/S/99 harkens back to the final punk rock analog days of VHS, while taking one giant leap forward into the hellish new millennium. In V/H/S/99, a thirsty teenager’s home video leads to a series of horrifying revelations.”

– Shudder

In the previous V/H/S entry we got a lot of terrifying moments. Including the now infamous Raatma (you need to see him to believe it) and the pure batshit energy that was the ending. Now, we’re being welcomed back into the ’90s with the fear of Y2K looming. Which can only mean major chaos if the trailer suggests anything. This highly anticipated film is set to release on October 20th on Shudder.

V/H/S/99 trailer

Some of the snippets—no, scratch that—all of the snippets, look scary as fuck. Combine that with the grittiness of the shorts and gore/bloody moments we’re going to get, and this looks like it’ll be a lot of fun.
