Colorado Woman Got Shaded for Her YSL Bag. Her Friend’s Clapback Avenged Her: ‘The Uno Reverse I Will Never Forget.’
Jealousy can be hiding beneath thinly veiled pleasantries. Television host Erica Cobb (@iamericacobb) from Colorado recalled when a wealthy woman took a subtle dig at her YSL bag. Upon hearing what had happened, Cobb’s friend avenged her with an unexpected comeback.
“This is about wealthy women’s shade hits differently, and I did not anticipate this level of uno reverse,” Cobb told TikTok. She and her husband were invited to his mentor’s overseas retirement party.
“There’s this party, we’re invited, and during the cocktail hour, we run into this couple,” Cobb explained. She said that the wife sat next to her, and the waiter brought over two purse stands. Without thinking much of it, Cobb placed her bag on the stand.
“Was it really necessary for you to buy her that bag?”
“Isn’t that the YSL clutch?” The wife asked. It was a YSL Silver Sade Puffer clutch bag released in 2021. It’s no longer available in store, which made the question appear harmless.
“Yeah, I’m like, I love it because it’s oversized,” Cobb replied. She started gushing about the bag’s best features. Cobb even joked that the bag makes her husband happy because it meant that he didn’t have to carry anything for her. She thought it was casual conversation, but when Cobb’s husband sat down, the woman turned to him and asked a dubious question.
“Was it really necessary for you to buy her that bag?” Cobb immediately corrected the woman.
“Oh no, I bought the bag for myself. I work,” she pointed out. Cobb said that she was merely stating a fact. She knew that the woman was not working, but Cobb clarified that she didn’t mean to be snarky against her. Even though Cobb found the woman’s comment about her bag strange, she proceeded to enjoy the party.
Cobb said that after the party, the guest of honor invited roughly 15-20 people to dinner. Despite the awkward conversation from earlier, the woman was seated to the left of Cobb. Then, her friend of a decade came in, and they both decided to briefly go to the bathroom.
That’s when Cobb told her friend about what the woman said to her earlier. Her friend expressed disgust at the woman’s comment. Although Cobb said that it didn’t matter, her friend pointed out that the woman was probably jealous of her.
“People can have more than you and then feel some type of way about you, even being in the room,” Cobb stated.
They went back to the dining hall, and when she and her friend got seated, the woman allegedly started a conversation about a house she’s interested in. According to Cobb, it’s probably not the woman’s first house either, but she views it as her dream house. Although it hasn’t been listed on the market yet, the woman was eager to buy it from the owners.
Cobb’s friend spoke up and asked if the woman was referring to the house with a specific address. The woman’s eyes lit up, talking about how gorgeous the property was. When she asked Cobb’s friend if she’d been there, she agreed.
“Of course, I’m friends with the family. Yeah, I’ve stayed there a bunch of times. It is really beautiful,” her friend said.
“I think they’re going to put it on the market soon, and we’re going to make the first offer, because I have to have it,” the woman said. But before she could keep talking about her interest in the property any further, Cobb’s friend dropped a bomb.
“Oh sweetie, I’m so sorry, but I actually just bought that house,” Cobb’s friend revealed. She further explained that because she’s friends with the family, they decided to do an off-market sale. As if to twist the dagger, her friend also informed the woman that they were already going to close the sale by the next week. An awkward silence followed, and Cobb diverted the subject to getting martini refills.
“Well, it looks like you could use a drink. Would you like another martini?” She asked the woman, as if to extend some grace. But the woman refused, turned to her phone, and excused herself.
Cobb turned to look at her friend, still stunned by the events. But her friend supposedly told her that she wasn’t being shady, just being truthful.
“That wasn’t the Uno reverse I was anticipating, but it’s the Uno reverse I will never forget,” Cobb said. It goes without saying that the best comebacks are rooted in truth.
