Are V From BTS and Jennie From BLACKPINK Dating?

A match made in K-pop heaven?

A rumor is spreading that BTS’s V and BLACKPINK’s Jennie are dating, and as is wont to happen when two K-pop icons are perceived to be dating, the internet is losing it. V is a Korean singer and member of BTS, whose real name is Kim Tae-hyung. Despite being a member of one of the most sensational K-pop boy bands of today, V is actually a pretty private person. He infrequently posts on social media and usually limits comments on his Instagram account. Naturally, he has kept pretty quiet about any relationships he has had while in the spotlight.

Meanwhile, Jennie Kim is a Korean rapper and singer, and member of the K-pop girl group BLACKPINK. In 2018, she also launched a solo singing career. While Kim is more active on social media and a little more open than V, she, too, has largely kept her dating life private. One of the reasons for this might be that BLACKPINK was formed under YG Entertainment, which has a “dating ban.” YG discourages bands under contract from dating, but there are exceptions to this rule.

Despite the ban, Jennie has been linked to two other K-pop stars before. In 2018, she was linked to Kai from the band EXO, though it was reported they broke up in early 2019. Most recently, Jennie was linked to G-Dragon from the band Big Bang. Of course, given their strict rules, YG refused to comment on or confirm a relationship between Jennie and G-Dragon. However, many fans accepted that the two were dating due to media reports suggesting a secret relationship. They even coined the cute relationship name: Jendragon. Of course, rumors are starting to get messy now that Jennie is being linked to someone else.

Are Jennie and V dating?

The rumors about Jennie and V dating began when a photo originally posted by Instagram user @dailyfashion_news went viral. The photo shows two people traveling together on Jeju Island. Fans immediately began identifying the pair in the photo as Jennie and V. Of course, this has sparked a large debate about whether the photo is legitimate or not. First of all, no one can confirm 100% it is them in the photo. Second, others have claimed that the two were edited into the photo.

Internet sleuths, in attempts to prove the authenticty of the photo, found that G-Dragon apparently unfollowed Jennie on Instagram. Despite not following her, he does follow the other band members of Blackpink. While it’s a stretch, some fans are insisting it means that Jennie broke up with G-Dragon and is now dating V.

However, the general consensus seems to be that the photograph is edited. Even if it’s not, it is impossible to say that two people you can barely see in a blurry photo are definitely V and Jennie. So, there is no confirmation that the two are dating. Even if they were dating, given their careers, it is highly unlikely they would come out and officially confirm their relationships. Hence, there’s no confirmation they are together and hoping for a confirmation is pretty futile.
