The first official trailer for Ryan Murphy’s new series Pose just dropped, and it has us vogueing in our seats. The FX series showcases “the luxury Trump-era universe, the downtown social and literary scene and the ball culture world.”

The FX series boasts the largest cast of transgender people as series regulars in television history, featuring MJ Rodriguez, Indya Moore, Dominique Jackson, Hailie Sahar, and Angelica Ross, all playing trans characters. Pose also features the largest LGBTQ cast ever assembled for a scripted series. In the trailer, we meet Damon (Ryan Jamaal Swain) a young street dancer who finds acceptance in a House, a group comprised of young black and Latinx LGBTQ performers. In ball culture, houses serve as alternative families, providing performers a safe space and a place to live. We also meet various dancers and house mother Elektra (Dominique Jackson) and follow them as they steal some costumes for a royalty-themed ball.

We also meet yuppy New Jersey couple Stan (Evan Peters) and his wife Patty (Kate Mara), who seems unaware that her husband spends his nights with trans sex worker and house dancer Angel (Indya Moore). James Van Der Beek also joins the cast as Stan’s boss, Matt.

Murphy, who co-created the show with Brad Falchuk (American Horror Story) and Steven Canals (Dead of Summer), directed the first two episodes of the eight-episode season. The series features queer and trans folks in front of and behind the camera, including writers Janet Mock, Our Lady J and Erica Kay. Famed ball culture performers Hector Xtravaganza, Skylar King, and Sol Williams also serve as consultants. In addition, Pose is partnering with Murphy’s Half Initiative to mentor trans and other marginalized directors.

Murphy recently closed an overall deal with Netflix for a record-setting $300 million. Murphy joins Shonda Rhimes, who recently ended her ABC deal for a similarly massive contract at Netflix.

Pose premieres June 3 on FX.
