Aubrey Joseph as Tyrone aka Cloak and Olivia Holt as Tandy aka Dagger on Freeform's Cloak and Dagger

Cloak and Dagger‘s Final Extended Trailer Reveals That One Will Have to Make the Ultimate Sacrifice

Marvel is definitely on a high right now, and this summer, we have more Marvel goodness coming at us with Cloak and Dagger on Freeform. The highly anticipated series drops June 7th, and today they released a final, extended trailer. Check it out above!

One of the first things that struck me about this is the religious/spiritual tone of the way Tandy (Olivia Holt) and Tyrone’s (Aubrey Joseph) powers work and where they may have come from. We see a glimpse of the Roxxon Corporation, so it may be that whatever gives them their powers in this adaptation of their story has to do with them.

However, there’s a lot of talk of “the Crisis,” and wanting to “be a god.” Someone tells Tandy and Tyrone that “every time the city has been struck with a catastrophe, it’s always come down to the Divine Pairing.” There’s lots of church imagery, too. It’s strange, considering that usually in the comics, Cloak and Dagger came into their powers thanks to being forcibly injected with drugs. It seems like there might be something supernatural at play here.

They are then told: “It’s on you to go up against it. But in the process, one of you is going to die.”

This just got way intense.

Freeform has been upping their programming game, and as I’ve always been a sucker for young superheroes, I’m very much looking forward to Cloak and Dagger. Will you be watching?
