We’ve been loving Betty and Veronica: Vixens, a new look at two of our favorite comic book frenemies, Betty and Veronica, as they head up Riverdale’s toughest motorcycle gang. There are some big changes coming to the book, and Archie Comics has provided us with some advance cover art, and some pretty sweet announcements!

Vixens #6 starts an all-new, 5-part story arc called “Hunted,” which finds our heroines being, you guessed it, hunted by a former foe. Here’s the official solicit information from Archie Comics:

BETTY & VERONICA: VIXENS #6
NEW STORY ARC! “Hunted”: The Vixens are being followed by a sinister former foe, but he claims to come in peace—can he be trusted? Meanwhile, a young woman’s mysterious disappearance has the Vixens’ questioning if their actions are having consequences. Please join us as we welcome new interior artist Jen Vaughn!

Script: Jamie Lee Rotante
Art: Jen Vaughn, Elaina Unger, Rachel Deering
Cover: Jen Vaughn
Variant Covers: Sanya Anwar, Eva Cabrera
On Sale Date: 5/9
32-page, full color comic
$3.99 U.S.

That’s right! A new artist is joining the team! Jen Vaughn is taking on interior art duties, and she’s thrilled to be on this book. “When I first got the call to take over VIXENS,” she explains. “I got so excited I drove my motorcycle around Jamie’s home for hours, honking and screaming. The VIXENS world Jamie and Eva created is fun, playful and punky as hell. Jamie’s been supportive as an author to boot, which is a nice surprise! I’m raring to draw creeps being punched and getting lunched by the girl gang. So readers, get your engines revved for our first issue together.”

She then clarifies, “Jen does not own a motorcycle.” Good to know, good to know.

Rotante also seems excited to work with Vaughn on this new arc, saying:

“I couldn’t be more excited to have Jen Vaughn join the Vixens; I’m confident that she’ll bring the spirit that Eva brought to the team and I’m eager to see where this goes! This new arc of Vixens sees the gang get into more deeper, darker situations than ever before. It won’t be an easy ride for Betty, Veronica and all the ladies—a lot of big questions will be asked, dark truths will come to light and they’ll be facing off against more sinister enemies and serious threats. But no matter what the Vixens encounter, they’ll face every problem with strength, a punk-rock attitude and a healthy dose of girl power.”

But don’t worry, Eva Cabrera’s awesome art won’t be gone from the book entirely. Here’s her variant cover for Issue #6:

This new story arc doesn’t start until May with Issue #6, so you have plenty of time to catch up on the title up until this point. Check out this trailer for the series, and check out the Archie Comics website for more info!
