Connie Britton and Oliver Platt Join Wonder Woman Biopic, Professor Marston & The Wonder Woman

William Moulton Marston, the man who created Wonder Woman in 1941, is getting his own biopic and we already know that The Hobbit star Luke Evans is set to play him. Now, it looks like a few more have been added to the mix including Nashville’s Connie Britton and Chicago P.D./Med/Fire star Oliver Platt, Deadline reported. Britton is set to play Josette Frank, a brilliant psychologist who initially thought Marston was anti-feminist and that his ideas were worrisome. Platt will step into the role of M.C. Gaines, the short-tempered editor at Sensation Comics known for discovering Superman.

The movie centers on Dr. Marston’s life as a Harvard psychologist and inventor, who goes on to create the Amazonian superhero. The film will also feature his wife Elizabeth Hall, a fellow inventor and psychologist who several sources credit with giving her husband the idea to create Wonder Woman, and Olive Byrne, Marston’s ex-student who engaged in a polyamorous relationship with the couple. Some say she was the basis of Wonder Woman’s look, though Morton says it’s only her bracelets (indestructible in the comics) that had any influence on the character.

The film will be written and directed by Angela Robinson, who previously penned scripts for HBO’s True Blood.
