I know we gush a lot about Stranger Things around here, and that’s mostly because it’s a show that’s studded with an amazing cast who seem fantastic both on and off the set. So I guess it makes sense then that we’re super stoked to hear that Millie Bobby Brown, who plays the fan-favorite Eleven on the show, has thrown her own hat into the ring to play a young Princess/General Leia in a Star Wars movie.
Brown, whose acting chops can be seen on Stranger Things, BBC America’s Intruders, and various other roles in primetime television, definitely seems like a wonderful fit for a young Leia role–provided one materializes at all. Brown voiced her desire to branch out after stating her wishes, saying, “If they made—I think they are making another Star Wars—I would love a role like that. Because I want to do something far from Eleven or Madison [her character on Intruders].”
There aren’t any plans for a young Leia Star Wars Story yet, though if we’re being honest with ourselves, we’re kind of due for one. We already know that we have Rogue One coming really soon, a young Han Solo Star Wars Story movie on the way, and a Boba Fett one very strongly rumored to follow. As well, on the farther end of the time spectrum, we have Episode VIII to look forward to. Plenty of things are pretty well secured for the franchise’s near future, but barring Rogue One, there are no other peeks into the lives of some of Star Wars‘ most prominent female characters.
Princess/General Leia as a character undoubtedly has plenty of wonderful stories to tell, and in my opinion, the Star Wars Stories series is a film series designed to explore exactly that. Brown’s involvement in such a project would certainly make it stronger.
