Wonder Woman is not in any danger. At least that’s what Patty Jenkins is saying. The director of the film unleashed her own lasso of truth in the form of a series of tweets yesterday as a response to an anonymous open letter that has been circulating around the Internet since it first went up on Thursday.
The open letter, which was first posted to the site Pajiba before being picked up by other news outlets, is written by an alleged former Warner Bros. employee using the pseudonym “Gracie Law”, and is directly addressed to studio CEO Kevin Tsujihara. The letter itself specifically references previous WB releases such as Edge of Tomorrow, The Man From U.N.C.L.E. and the trilogy of The Hobbit films before going on to reference the recent set of DC movies–namely, Man of Steel, Batman V. Superman and Suicide Squad.
According to the writer of the letter, Warner Bros. has mangled not only their handling of the DC franchise but their “entire slate” of films. They then go on to reference the upcoming Wonder Woman, set to be released in 2017:
What are you even doing? I wish to God you were forced to live out of a car until you made a #1 movie of the year. Maybe Wonder Woman wouldn’t be such a mess. Don’t try to hide behind the great trailer. People inside are already confirming it’s another mess. It is almost impressive how you keep rewarding the same producers and executives for making the same mistakes, over and over.
Jenkins, however, says the movie is in no danger whatsoever, and posted some tweets to her personal account yesterday debunking the argument:

At this point, it’s impossible to really confirm if any of the claims made in the anonymous open letter have merit. It’s also unlikely that Jenkins would be lying about the prospects of Wonder Woman‘s success, given that she directed the movie and has discussed how proud she is about being part of the team who worked on it. That’s probably not going to stop the conspiracy theorists of the Internet from speculating about DC trying to save face after a series of poorly-reviewed movies–but rather than continue to dwell too much on it, how about we all do something crazy and judge Wonder Woman for ourselves once we’ve, you know, actually seen it?
