Monday Cute: Watch This Hamster-Powered Hamster Drawing Machine With Us Forever

You know the Hamster Dance has lyrics? I didn't. "Dibidi ba didi dou dou / Di ba didi dou..."

You remember Hamster Dance, right? That GIF site from the Before Times that had a bunch of dancing hamsters? Well, this is kind of like that, except much more high tech. Artist Neil Mendoza designed what can only be described as a hamster-powered hamster drawing machine. It does right what it says on the box: a hamster running on a hamster wheel powers a robotic arm that draws a hamster running on a hamster wheel. The hamster is basically drawing itself.

The video, which you can see above, is short, sweet, and to the point. There’s surely something to be said here about the symbolism of a tiny creature grinding away at something that only creates but a humble two-dimensional facsimile of itself, but you know what, it’s way too early for that kind of analysis. I haven’t even had my coffee yet.

So I’m going to sit here and watch this cute little hamster get on the hamster wheel to draw another little hamster running in its own wheel and that’s it.

If it helps, you can listen to the Hamster Dance song to get the complete picture. It’s glorious.
