Archie Comics is Getting a Show on The CW

Maybe we should rename CW to, uh, "Comics... World?"

The CW is definitely cornering the market on comics-based adaptations. In addition to its various shows set in the dubbed Arrowverse (Arrow, The Flash and Legends of Tomorrow), the network has just ordered a pilot based on the characters of Archie Comics–which, coincidentally, also comes from the mind of the creator of the Arrowverse shows.

Here’s what we know so far about Riverdale, the latest project from Greg Berlanti:

Based on the characters from Archie Comics, but set in present day, the project is a surprising and subversive take on Archie, Betty, Veronica and their friends, exploring the surrealism of small town life–the darkness and weirdness bubbling beneath Riverdale’s wholesome façade.

“Surprising and subversive”, huh? Well, we’d heard whispers about this adaptation becoming a more concrete thing back when a casting notice first surfaced. Prior to that, the show had made the network jump from Fox to the CW in terms of where we’d get to watch it. Now, it looks like we actually will!

There isn’t any news in terms of who will be bringing these characters to life, so let’s talk dreamcasts. Who could you envision as Archie, Betty, Veronica and Jughead?
