Take this news with a chicken-sized grain of salt, but according to Production Weekly, The Muppets may be heading to the small screen soon with the help of a beloved comedy alum.
Randall Einhorn (known for his work on It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia, Parks and Recreation, The Office, and Fargo) is allegedly set to direct the pilot of an as-yet-untitled Muppet project for ABC, and although I think that we’ve seen a trend of unnecessary reboots inspired by nostalgia recently, I’d be truly delighted if this news turned out to be true: the Muppets are forever. If not, I guess we’ll always have 500 Days of Fraggle Rock and Disney’s Muppet Moments.
If the Muppets did come back to prime-time, what kind of a series would you like to see? I’d be down for a variety show again, but Einhorn also has a ton of experience directing mockumentary series like The Office and Parks and Rec. Kermit already has the “unimpressed Jim” stare down:

ABC is considering bringing back the Muppets and will soon shoot a pilot presentation under the working title “Muppets 2015.” Fittingly, the logline reads that “The Muppets excitedly gather at ABC for a meeting about the new Muppet Show. However, the show will not move forward unless Miss Piggy signs on.”
Muppets will be scripted by Big Bang Theory co-creator Bill Prady and The Simpsons‘ Bob Kushell.
