AH! IT’S HAPPENING!
According to an exclusive from The Hollywood Reporter (update: which seems to have been more or less confirmed by Paul Feig’s tweet above), here’s the line-up: Melissa McCarthy has officially signed on to the Paul Feig film, surprising no one; Kristin Wiig, Kate McKinnon, and Leslie Jones have not been cast yet but are currently in negotiations.
McKinnon, you’ll remember, joined Saturday Night Live in 2012 and is the show’s first open lesbian; Jones was hired as a writer in early 2014 (around the same time SNL was getting heat for its ridiculous lack of black women) and was brought on as a featured player in October. She can also be seen in Chris Rock’s latest film, Top Five.
