After promising to focus on actual sci-fi programming and cut down on the shark-based weather phenomena, Syfy is about to bring audiences the most explosive television event of the decade: a David S. Goyer-developed drama about Superman’s grandpa.
According to The Hollywood Reporter,
Krypton takes place years before the Superman legend we know, when the House of El was shamed and ostracized. This drama, which is in development, follows the Man of Steel’s grandfather as he brings hope and equality to Krypton, turning a planet in disarray into one worthy of giving birth to the greatest Super Hero ever known.
The drama will be Man of Steel-writer Goyer’s third series on the air, along with Constantine and Starz’s Da Vinci’s Demons. Krypton is also just one of a recent crop of DC Comics projects for the small screen. In addition to Gotham, The Flash, Arrow, Hellblazer, and Constantine, a Supergirl pilot for CBS is currently searching for its lead.
According to Comic Book Resources, DC Entertainment Chief Creative Officer Geoff Johns has also revealed that a pilot for the TNT Titans series will begin shooting next year, saying earlier this week “Long time coming to get Nightwing to live action.”
