Three Short Films Fill in the Gap Between Rise and Dawn of the Planet of the Apes

There's a 10-year gap between Rise of the Planet of the Apes movie and Dawn of the Planet of the Apes, so Fox has collaborated with Vice to produce short films telling what happened in between. You can watch them here (more below the jump), and they've also got a documentary called Island of the Apes, which will be out later today (trailer below the jump).

There’s a 10-year gap between Rise of the Planet of the Apes movie and Dawn of the Planet of the Apes, so Fox has collaborated with Vice to produce short films telling what happened in between. You can already watch all three, and they’ve also got a documentary called Island of the Apes, which will be out later today and has a trailer below.

Here’s short number 2:

Five years after the Simian Flu all but wiped out humanity, an orphaned teenage girl survives by bartering things she has stolen from dead people’s homes.

And number 3:

The journey of a shotgun through the hands of several ill-fated owners as the ‘Simian Flu’ ravages the world around them.

And here’s the trailer for Island of the Apes, which should be out later today. When it does, you can watch it on Motherboard.

In this upcoming documentary on Motherboard, presented by Dawn of the Planet of the Apes, our crew goes to Liberia to discover ‘Monkey Island,’ a place solely inhabited by former lab tested chimpanzees. We talk to the fearful locals and meet the scientists involved in the testing facility 25 years ago. Coming soon to Motherboard.
