We got a brief glimpse of Jodie Whittaker as the Doctor way back when the news first broke, but she was mostly obscured by a (admittedly awesome) coat/hoodie combo, but her actual look as the 13th Doctor is so much more.

BBC finally revealed the whole costume today, and it is a sight to behold. The suspenders! The shirt! Those pants. Nary a decorative vegetable in sight, but the bold, colorful, eclectic look is a big departure from recent doctors’ suits, including Peter Capaldi’s magician-y feel, and reminds me a lot more of the more whimsical costumes of Doctors past. (Gizmodo points out that the TARDIS signage is a throwback, as well.)

We’re all looking forward to even more departures for the character and show, as they move forward with a new showrunner, Broadchurch creator Chris Chibnall, after this year’s Christmas special. That episode will be both Peter Capaldi’s and current showrunner Steven Moffat’s last episode, ahead of the new season’s expected start in the fall of 2018.

What do you think of the new look? What other changes and new directions are you hoping for from the season ahead?
