Why Not Do It With Some Style?

4-Year-Old Fashionista “Mayhem” Makes Dresses Out of Paper, Has More Style Than Most Adults

[View All on One Page]

Four year old Mayhem (not her real name, but it fits, because this girl has ‘tude), isn’t the hugest fan of princess dresses. But she really likes paper and tape. The miniature fashion maven, with the assistance of her mother Angie (“The ideas are pretty much a 50/50 split, but Mayhem constructs a lot more than most people would probably believe… she’s literally always beside me learning something new if she’s not tearing or taping or gluing while I am.”), has taken dress-up into her own hands, creating outfits out of construction paper, tissue paper, aluminum foil… “if we can find it laying around the house and it’s pliable, it’s fair game,” says Angie.

You can see more of the dresses on Angie’s Instagram or the Fashion by Mayhem website, but we’ve picked some of our favs to show you here. No lie, I would wear the heck out of the shark dress. Preferably it’d be fabric, though.

These are some of the cutest pictures I’ve ever seen, but all I can think is “papercuts”.

I really do love that Ralph Lauren dress… It’s so elegant.

I wish I was the Gay Best Friend of a 4 year old girl rather than several adult women. With adults it’s boring questions like “Does this make me look fat?” or “Does this dress go with these shoes?” With a child it would be interesting questions like “Does this outfit need a giant paper crown?” The answer to which, incidentally, would always be “Yes, of course it does.”

I am lucky enough to hang with haunt people, for whom the question is “Do these fangs match? Do I need more blood coming from this gaping wound? How dead do I look, because I was going for about 3 weeks and submerged in marsh, and I’m worried I look more 30 years in a dry coffin.”

And then I met the pixies, and now it’s “Do I need more feathers? Does this glitter match these wings?”

That…wow. Those are actually REALLY NICE. Like, if these were real dresses made of fabric, I’d buy them. I want that Minnie Mouse dress. And the shark dress.

    This kid has talent.
