Maya Rudolph and Martin Short’s Variety Show is Premiering in May

Could there BE any more M's in that headline?

Chalk this up on the list of things I had absolutely no idea about–Maya Rudolph and Martin Short are collaborating on a new variety show! And it’s going to be called Maya and Marty in Manhattan (this is apparently a tentative title)! And it’s going to be premiering on NBC in May!

SNL head Lorne Michaels will serve as executive producer on the show, which is anticipated will be airing live from NBC’s 30 Rock studio (similar to SNL). More details, such as episode count and show format, have yet to be fully decided on–but it looks like NBC plans to move full steam ahead with this interesting pairing.

For those who recall, Rudolph and Short had a memorable performance together in February 2015 as part of the SNL 40 celebration–and now it would appear as though they want to keep the party going.

What do you think about this comedy match? Will you be tuning in a few months from now?
