Gal Gadot Wielding Sword, Shield, and Great War Fashions on the Wonder Woman Film Set

Recommended Videos

Gal Gadot’s period costume for the World War I setting of Wonder Woman looks unobtrusive, practical, and warm — it’s a gray wool coat and skirt, plus a nice hat. Oh, and the sword and shield look helpful.

Why would Diana Prince be carrying such an ostentatious set of weapons out on a crowded public street, while dressed in plainclothes, non-heroic attire? And why does Chris Pine’s Steve Trevor look like he’s trying to help Diana with the sword? Lastly, who is the shorter red-headed woman talking to them both?

Lots of unanswerable questions, obviously, but it’s cool to see some of Wonder Woman’s weaponry nonetheless. We got a peek at Chris Pine’s World War I costume last November, but we haven’t gotten to see much of Gal Gadot — until today, that is. Her glasses and hair bun remind me a bit of Lynda Carter’s old disguises on the Wonder Woman TV show:

Which, in turn, took its inspiration from the earliest depictions of the character:

The old “bun and glasses” trick seems to ensure that no one will ever recognize your mild-mannered alter-ego. What do you think of Gal Gadot’s plainclothes look?
