Miu Suzaki and Ryuichi Kihara performed their 2018 Winter Olympics routine to the title track of Yuri On Ice the skating anime that swept the world in 2016.

The show had gained a following not only among anime fans but ice skaters like Evgenia Medvedeva, Masato Kimura, Evgeni Plushenko, and Johnny Weir also expressed their love of the series. The Yuri On Ice routines were inevitable and thrilling. Plenty of famous skaters have done routines to geeky music and anime themes, but it’s a completely different victory for the show, however, to make it to the freaking Olympics. And not to stretch the significance of it too much, but I think there’s also something wonderful about using the music from a show about a same-sex couple at the same time the event has a record number of out LGBTQ+ athletes (including the first publicly gay male figure skater).

The two have performed the routine before, which you can watch without the commentary here:

What did you think of Miu Suzaki and Ryuichi Kihara’s routine?
