‘Your tax money’: America drowning in $37 trillion debt, yet Donald Trump is chasing his golden palace fantasy
United States President Donald Trump is chasing his palace dreams now that he has access to taxpayers’ money. A recently uploaded video by him on the social media platform Truth Social has caused an uproar among American citizens who believe that their money is being used for the wrong causes by Trump.
On September 29, 2025, Trump uploaded a video on the social media platform, Truth Social which showed an assortment of gold motifs of different sizes that were led on a table. The video signified that they were to be used in decorating the interiors of the White House. Trump captioned the post and mentioned that everything featured in the clip was made of 24 karat gold. He also addressed the feedback he had received from people in positions of power and others concerning the adornments which he believes are true examples of“ beauty” and “quality.” His full quote regarding the content of the video read:
“Some of the highest quality 24 Karat Gold used in the Oval Office and Cabinet Room of the White House. Foreign Leaders, and everyone else, “freak out” when they see the quality and beauty.”
The description also contained another line from Trump who cannot help but engage in a bit of back patting and chest thumping when it comes to unnecessary things. Referring to his bold design choices, Trump remarked that following the makeover his was the “best Oval Office ever, in terms of success and look!!!”
People were quick to take notice of Trump’s blatant claims in his Truth Social post. Some took to social media platforms including X (previsouly Twitter) and referred to the designs as distasteful and compared it to the White House interiors during Biden’s regime. Some pointed out that the decorations were not made of real gold but something else that had been painted a shiny gold colour.
On a much deeper level, many accused Donald Trump of misusing taxpayer money while the state is already in 37 trillion dollars of debt. Referring to him as a dictator, one user wrote:
