Woman’s Lyft Ride Was Just One Minute Away. Then She Crashes Out After Driver Makes a Pit Stop: ‘Play Too Much’
She had Priority Pickup.

Waking up at the crack of dawn to head to work is not everyone’s cup of tea, especially when you’re already running late. For one woman, her morning commute to work began with her having a “6 AM crash out” after finding that her Lyft driver made a pit stop at a Dunkin’ Donuts despite booking a Priority Pickup.
@chosenonexone shared the incident with a video on TikTok, which has since garnered over 179,100 views. According to chosenonexone, she had opted to book a ride with Lyft’s Priority Pickup as she was rushing to get to work in Manhattan from Queens.
When chosenonexone was able to book her ride, Lyft’s app notified her that her ride was only a minute away from her. However, chosenonexone claimed that despite getting notified of its upcoming arrival, her ride stayed parked in one place.
Woman finds her Lyft driver in Dunkin’ Donuts
“The Lyft said 1 minute away but was parked in one location, which is a 1 minute drive but a 5 minute walk from my house,” chosenonexone said in her comment section. Because chosenonexone was in a rush to get to work, she decided to walk to where her Lyft ride was located.
When she arrived, she seemingly discovered the car was parked at a Dunkin’ Donuts, while the driver was buying breakfast inside the store. “So I walked there and saw him inside Dunkin’ Donuts with his car parked,” chosenonexone said. “If he wanted breakfast he should’ve never picked up my PRIORITY PICKUP ride.”
chosenonexone’s video showed her confronting the Lyft driver, with on-screen text saying, “POV: YOUR LIFT DRIVER THINK ITS OKAY TO ACCEPT YOUR RIDE AND GET BREAKFAST BEFORE HE PICK YOU UP.” She repeatedly mentioned the pickup point was only a minute away before telling the driver to cancel the booking on his end.
“Imagine I’m waiting on my ride, my s*** say one minute away. One minute away, right? One minute,” chosenonexone told the driver as he navigated the Lyft app. “You in here gettin’ Dunkin Donuts. I’m trying to go to work. Cancel my ride right now. What’s wrong with you? Right now.”
When the driver canceled the Lyft ride, he can be heard telling chosenonexone to “go, we’re done, go” before proceeding to return inside the store. “I had to come to you, though. Did I not come to you? I came and found you. Yeah, you play too much,” chosenonexone said. This isn’t the first time a customer criticized an employee for a delay in service. A similar incident happened when a diner had shamed a server for serving her drink late.
Priority Pickup has a higher price
While chosenonexone’s reaction might seem a bit overboard, her frustration is understandable given that she booked a Priority Pickup. According to Lyft, the Priority Pickup offers its passengers a faster pickup time for a slightly higher price than normal when booking an economy car. It is only available in certain regions and depends on how many drivers are nearby.
chosenonexone’s actions received divided reactions from viewers. Some viewers agreed that the Lyft driver was in the wrong, considering it was a Priority Pickup booking. “This is why customers should be able to cancel rides that exceed a certain time limit,” one commenter said. “If he’s not ready to wk he should’ve turned on his app to accept any rides !!!,” another said.
Other viewers also shared their own experience and claimed this isn’t the first time a driver pulled such a stunt: “They do ts ALL THE TIME. i had a guy accept my ride then i saw him park at the wendys across the street from me, i crossed to confront him and when he saw me walking up to the car he turned his phone off and drove off so i wasn’t able to order another uber because if i cancelled i woulda had to pay for the ride i didn’t get…. he kept my uber busy for 20+ mins thinking i was gonna cancel and he was gonna get free money from me. i took the bus and reported his ahh.”
Some felt that the confrontation endangered the driver’s safety. “Yeah I’d cancel your ride so fast but not before reporting you to Lyft for being a dangerous and hostile customer. I’d have you removed from the app. What if he was diabetic and needed to eat? Let the man be human,” a commenter said. According to chosenonexone’s caption, she arrived at work late following the incident.
