Woman gets ‘hey girly’ text about man she hasn’t seen in over a year, then learns he’s allegedly been showing women her photos

Everyone knows what comes after the 'hey girly' text.

Getting a “hey girly” text from a stranger can immediately raise some uncomfortable questions. TikToker Val (@val_cosme) says she received an unexpected message from a woman asking whether she knew a particular man and, more specifically, whether she’d been with him at a park that day.

Sharing the story on TikTok, Val said she knew him. On the other hand, the one fairly significant problem was that she had not seen the man in more than a year, nor did she live in the city where the supposed sighting happened.

Still, Val had an idea where the conversation was headed. “Whatever your intuition is, you’re right,” she recalled telling the woman. The TikTok video has, so far, accumulated more than 417,000 views.

The ‘hey girly’ text came with an unexpected photo

“Hey girly” messages have become enough of an online dating phenomenon that another woman previously found herself delivering one in person after discovering that a man who had been messaging her was allegedly engaged. In the case of Val, she wasn’t the messenger or even the woman potentially being deceived.

According to Val, the stranger explained that one of her best friends was talking to the man in question. The man had allegedly told the friend that she needed to “start acting right,” listen to him, and do what he wanted because he had other women in his phone. Then he apparently offered proof by showing her photos and videos of Val.

“That man ain’t see me in over a year,” Val said. She explained that she’d stopped speaking to him after previously calling him a “bum.”

It’s also not the first time a woman has unexpectedly learned that a man had her pictures saved. One Las Vegas woman received a similarly unsettling message from a stranger who allegedly discovered photos of her on her husband’s phone, despite the woman barely interacting with him at their gym.

As for Val, she believed the man was using her pictures to suggest he was still involved with her. “It’s definitely giving, just out here lying, telling people that he know me or he with me,” she said.

She called him after getting the message

After their conversation, Val called the man herself and said she told him he was a “literal idiot” for dragging her into his dating drama. “Do not put me in your drama,” she recalled telling him. “You have a female upset. You got other females texting me, talking about, ‘Do you know blah, blah, blah?’”

Other TikTok users apparently recognized the peculiar situation. One commenter said she’d once received a “hey girly” message from her ex-boyfriend’s current wife despite not having seen or spoken to him in around six years. Another claimed she’d experienced something similar after previously confronting a man for taking screenshots of her Snapchat photos.

After recounting an evening involving an unexpected stranger, a man she hadn’t seen in more than a year, and photos she didn’t know were being shown around, Val concluded her story with a much less complicated development: “Oh, and here’s my cold foam,” she said, bringing her beverage into frame. “It’s raspberry. Oh, it looks so good.”
