Woman finishes five meals at Virginia restaurant. Moments later, she demands a full refund and throws the food: ‘For dogs’
She allegedly tried to have her cake and eat it too.

It’s common for customers to request a refund when dissatisfied with a product or service, and most businesses are willing to accommodate such requests. But at what point does asking for a refund become an abuse of the refund policy? One Virginia woman allegedly demanded a refund after eating five meals with a friend, only for the experience to turn into an outburst on the sidewalk when the restaurant refused.
The incident was shared by Fava Pot, a restaurant in McLean, Virginia, that specializes in authentic Egyptian cuisine. In its video, which has since gained over 66,600 views on TikTok, a woman can be seen crossing the street to return to her car, while a paper bag and containers with food spilling out appear to have been thrown onto the sidewalk.
“This is what small independent restaurants are facing,” Fava Pot said in its caption. According to the restaurant, the woman in the video allegedly arrived with a friend and ordered five meals for herself. During their dinner, Fava Pot claimed the woman told them “everything was excellent” when a server went to check on how their meal was. However, things went downhill when the woman was preparing to leave.
Virginia woman eats most of the food
Fava Pot said the woman packed up her leftovers and “insisted” on paying in cash. However, just as she was leaving, she allegedly asked for a full refund, claiming that she “didn’t like the food” despite her earlier comment, according to Fava Pot.
Fava Pot said they refused to give the woman a refund, but this seemed to have triggered the woman’s frustration, leading to an outburst on the sidewalk. “She came back, opened the containers, and deliberately threw the food across the sidewalk in front of our restaurant while directing profanity at us, then drove away.” Fava Pot said.
In the video, the woman can be heard hurling insults at the Fava Pot staff recording the footage. “I thought the food was for dogs and you’re a dog, so please, eat [the food],” the woman told the staff. She later called Fava Pot’s food “nasty” before driving off.
Fava Pot criticized the woman for deliberately wasting food and allegedly abusing its workers verbally. It later emphasized that it was open to receiving feedback so that it could improve and better serve customers. We are a small, independent restaurant. Every day, our team works hard to serve good food and take care of our customers,” Fava Pot said. “We welcome feedback, and when we make a mistake, we do our best to make it right.”
Refunds depend on the business’ policy
Viewers were largely on the restaurant’s side and claimed that this incident was proof that the saying “customers are always right” is incorrect. “People who say ‘the customer is always right’ are just trying to validate their own abhorrent behavior,” a viewer said. Another chimed in, saying Fava Pot should file a report: “Please report this to the police and share the video with them. She should get in trouble for her behavior. It will teach her not to act this way again with another business.
Others were a bit more straightforward. “If she didn’t like the food why would she take the leftovers?” A second viewer added, “Yeah, you don’t get to ask for a refund after you finish the entire meal.”
Unless otherwise specified in the Virginia restaurant’s policy, customers are typically not granted refunds, especially for food they have already consumed. They can, however, request a refund if there was contamination, the food was undercooked, or it doesn’t match the quality that was advertised. For now, it remains unclear what really prompted the woman to initiate a refund.
