Woman buys 3 diamond tennis bracelets on TikTok Live. Then she looks at the stones and finds what they really are: ‘tiny gray specks of dirt’
Lesson learnt

A woman claims a diamond jewelry seller on TikTok scammed her and is asking for compensation. In a video, Rebeccasarahstyle said she bought three diamond tennis bracelets during a TikTok live auction on Silver Aura New York’s page. She mentioned that while one of the bracelets comprised lab-grown diamonds, the other two were made of natural diamonds; at least that is what they claimed.
Rebecca highlighted how the person auctioning the bracelets upsold the natural-diamond pieces. “The natural bracelets were overly hyped during the live cause they were mainly selling lab products. And when the natural diamonds came onto the scene, they were hyping them up saying, oh natural, blah blah blah blah. Because obviously natural is better than lab,” she said. Rebecca then showed a short clip of the woman auctioning the “7 inches” natural diamond bracelets in 92.5 silver.
However, when Rebecca received the bracelets, she said reality was very different from what the woman in the video claimed. “They tricked me. They got me. They made me think that I was getting the steal of the century by getting natural diamond tennis bracelets.” She stated that the clasps on all the bracelets were “defective.” She alleged that these clasps were either “broken and sealed shut and unable to open or completely open and unable to seal shut because of bent things and this little push down thing not working.”
She also noted that the diamonds were not satisfactory. “But the diamonds, these natural diamonds that were hyped up during the live, look like tiny gray specks of dirt,” Rebecca said before showing a close-up of a bracelet that looked very different from how it looked in the auction video.
“You can’t really see it on the video. Which is exactly why I was convinced to buy it, because they have that beautiful light going. And they’re going like this. They don’t show the clasps because they’re all broken,” Rebecca said, highlighting how she was tricked into purchasing it. Rebecca said she reached out to the seller with her complaint and asked for a refund, but the seller questioned her decision to buy natural diamonds, claiming they came in a “variety” compared to lab-grown diamonds.
“Who’s buying diamonds on TikTok????”
Despite reaching out to Silver Aura New York, it appears Rebecca hasn’t received a response. However, her story has a somewhat happy ending. In a separate video, she said her local jeweler, Francis Parwal, who saw her video about the diamond bracelets, sent her a free 2-carat natural diamond tennis bracelet. She said she was very happy with the item but would have to go to the shop to get it fitted to her size, as her wrist was small.
Under Rebecca’s original video, some people seemed to miss the point and instead questioned her choices. One person wrote, “Why are people buying things off TikTok lives?” Another reacted similarly saying, “Who’s buying diamonds on TikTok???”
A few people highlighted how natural diamonds weren’t supposed to be set in silver. One person commented, “Why would a natural diamond tennis bracelet be set in sterling silver? Red flag.” Another person said, “Jeweller here. Some tips: No quality diamonds will be set in silver. Diamonds vary in clarity and colour and have flaws unlike lab diamonds. Good jewelry is never [cheap.] Hope this helps.”
Turns out, Rebecca’s isn’t an isolated incident. A handful of people in the comments of Rebecca’s second video on the topic described similar experiences, some with the same jeweler. One person highlighted, “Amazing!!! Silver Aura denied my refund for my diamondless bracelet!” Another person wrote, “I will make a video on silveraurany soon as well! I will make those ppl cry. They are disgusting and I am sooo happy for you!”
Rebecca’s experience serves as a reminder of the serious concerns regarding transparency and customer service in the online jewelry market. It also highlights the power of social media and the empathy that some individuals possess, despite the complexities of the current world.
