Ohio woman goes to date’s house. Then she sees a text from ‘Shelby’ in his phone—and ends up finding her

Getting caught in a love triangle is messy. Becoming an amateur internet detective to warn the other woman? That’s a whole different level of commitment.
One Ohio woman had a casual hangout at a man’s house come to a screeching halt after she noticed a name on his phone. His explanation only made things worse.
As hard as he fought, she still chose to walk away. Now she’s asking the internet for help locating the mysterious “Shelby.” She put specific details into the TikTok and hoped it would work. The wildest part? Shelby allegedly found the video.
What Happened at this Hangout?
TikTik user Annie (@anniepoo024) has summoned the help of the internet in finding a mysterious woman named Shelby. Why is she mysterious? Well, Annie saw the name on her casual partner’s phone and he swore up and down that she meant nothing.
This recounting of events hit over 1.5 million viewers, who flocked to the clip’s comments section in hopes of getting it to the right person.
Annie begins with specific details: There’s a man in Ohio who’s 6’5, is named Michael, and needs to be driven everywhere because he got a DUI three years ago. After the description, Annie says, “I think you should block him and run for the hills.”
What Did He Do?
Annie says she and Michael were hanging out at his place and laying on the couch. She speculates that he thought she was asleep, but she spotted the name on his phone. Once questioned about who Shelby was, Michael got extremely flustered and started listing off excuses.
“I don’t like her, I don’t care about her,” he reportedly told her. “I don’t even wanna be with her…I don’t know how to let her down easy.”
In response, Annie tells him that it’s very disrespectful to talk to other women when he’s around her. He immediately offers to block Shelby. Viewers don’t hear the end of the conversation between the couple but Annie surmises that she is no longer on speaking terms with him.
“I think that you should join me,” Annie says. “You should block him and run for the hills.”
Did Shelby Respond?
Considering the clip went viral, it took almost no time for the message to supposedly reach Shelby. In the comment sections, a viewer states, “Hi i’m shelby can i DM you?”
Other viewers quickly join the thread and ask her if she’s talking to a man who fits the descriptions. She replies “sure am!”
When further questioned, Shelby replies, “girl i’m good he’s gone now!!!” Sure enough, she then posts a clip on her account from her side of the story. Her text overlay reads: “Shoutout to Ann!!”
First and foremost, Shelby explains that there weren’t any “labels” and that they had only been talking for two months. Apparently, he had said some “alarming” things and she was trying to figure out a way to end things with him.
When she confronted him about Ann’s TikTok, he claimed Ann was crazy and that it was all Shelby’s fault. She describes him as egotistical and crazy. Shelby’s grateful for Ann’s video and she knew it wouldn’t work out anyway because she lives far from him and he needs someone to drive him around. Shelby ends the clip by saying, “He’s done, he’s gone, and he’s never coming back.”
People asking the internet for help in these kinds of stories are not remotely new. There have been plenty other occasions where cheating has been observed and people want the partners to find out. In another story covered by The Mary Sue, one woman overheard a man in Hooters bragging about cheating for his bachelor party. She also asked the internet for help and apparently, the wedding got called off.
