We have to keep talking about the Marvel chairs for a while longer

I fear that the chair reveal for Avengers: Doomsday is going to be something that haunts us for the rest of time. Especially now that we’re going to be waiting longer for the next Avengers movie.

We haven’t had an “Avengers” team-up since 2019 when Avengers: Endgame closed out the stories of our core six. Since, we’ve had one off movies, established new heroes in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and it is building up to a new set of Avengers taking on Dr. Doom as their big bad. But it isn’t an easy feat and Marvel has decided to push the release dates from May of 2026 and May of 2027 to December of their respective years.

The delay isn’t a bad thing. It is meant to give the studio more time to execute their vision for the film which is a pretty impressive one. So if the delay allows them to pull it off, so be it. But I do think that this is allowing us all to make more jokes about the chairs are going to keep pushing us until their respective December release dates.

Delays are not always negative. Sometimes, the original release dates were just too ambitious and I’d rather they didn’t rush Secret Wars or Doomsday. But that does mean we’re probably not going to get big news about the films any time soon. Or if we did see something, we might end up just getting more chairs.

The chairs that keep on giving

Marvel made us watch 4 hours of chairs revealing each cast member of Doomsday bit by bit. It got to the point where now people are asking Stitch whether or not he’s in the movie. And we are, reportedly, getting more cast announcements at some point (hopefully with more women included). But with that news means we have the threat of chairs looming over us again.

Or we just will keep making jokes about the backs of chairs because that’s what we do. But with the delay, I fear those jokes will not stop. We have been asking so many people about the chairs, they’re such a part of the Disney legacy that it doesn’t matter who someone is talking to, the chairs will come up. And so now that we have months more added to the wait time, the chairs will probably still have their time to shine.
