M. Night Shyamalan Wants an Unbreakable Netflix Series (Because Bruce Willis Is Strong as Hell)

He alive, dammit!

Displaying trademark un-chillness, Wayward Pines director M. Night Shyamalan has admitted that he’d like to return to the unsullied fields of his pre-Avatar days:

I really love where we are. Could you do a six-episode Unbreakable series on Netflix or HBO? Yeah! That’s cool. I even had an idea of doing a story that goes in one form, and a second part that’s in another form, and a third one’s in a different form. You never do the same form. It would be like, movie, then, let’s say, cable, to TV, whatever, and then a play; it goes straight online, and it finishes like that.

gross

Although I doubt Unbreakable specifically will ever make the (fascinating) transition to the small screen, Shyamalan has praised the freedom of episodic storytelling in the past, telling The Mary Sue at C2E2 “really, [TV’s] about making you guys fall in love with the characters, which I love. I love to do the dinner table scene more than the big action scene in a movie.”

Basically what I’m saying is that more Shyamalan TV series are inevitable; but hey, if he wants to work with some bad-ass female creators on turning this unbreakable thing into a show, I’d be in. The only twist would be that it’s great.
