[UPDATED] Looking For More Women In True Detective Season 2? HBO Might Have A Jessica Chastain For That.

Oh Really?

HBO’s debut season of True Detective was an intense and riveting ride. The show starred Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson (always an amazing team) in the lead roles, however, they told a complete story. That left many wondering where the series would go for Season 2. The internet even started a fantastic meme trying to cast the next leads but we finally have a hint as to who might take on the task – Jessica Chastain

Nerdist.com had the exclusive on this one:

Recent rumors have stated series creator Nic Pizzolatto was seeking a female-driven cast for Season 2 of the hit HBO series, and now today, Nerdist has learned exclusively one of the names that may be on the bill in 2015: Jessica Chastain.

According to sources, the Zero Dark Thirty actress has been offered a leading role in the second season but has yet to accept. As for official confirmation, we reached out to representatives for Chastain, who have declined to comment at this time.

As Season 1 of True Detective unfolded, many questioned the female characters in the show and how they were presented and as Nerdist points out, the creator has hinted at women taking the lead for Season 2. We can’t think of a better choice than Chastain.

This latest news follows rumors of Brad Pitt being eyed for a lead and pretty much everyone else clawing to be asked. Amazing Spider-Man’s Emma Stone recently told Vogue, “That would be amazing. I would do True Detective with Kristen Wiig in a heartbeat.”

Ok, now I kind of want a buddy cop show with them.

[UPDATE: From Eonline.com, “E! News can confirm the Oscar-nominated actress is not heading to the HBO series. While the thought of Chastain on True Detective is exciting, reps for Chastain told E! News that the actress is not doing the series.” Sad trombone noise.
