Tatiana Maslany, Diego Luna, and Emile Hirsch Join the Final Season of Guillermo del Toro’s Trollhunters

Hirsch will replace the late Anton Yelchin.

Trollhunters is returning to Netflix for its third season, with three new voices to join the fantastic voice cast that has boasted Kelsey Grammer (Blinky), Mark Hamill (Dictatious), David Bradley (Merlin), Ron Perlman (Bular), Steven Yeun (Steve), Anjelica Huston (Queen Ursurna), Lena Headey (Morgana), and lots lots more. While this is the final season for the animated series, it will be expanded into two more series, 3 Below and Wizards, to make the Tales of Arcadia trilogy—so this might not be the last we see of these characters or their world.

The casting answers one of the big questions that fans have had about the season, mainly, “What will happen with Jim?” The late and talented Anton Yelchin voiced the main hero James Lake Jr., or Jim the Trollhunter, for the series’ first season. After his death, they continued to use his voice for season two as they he had recorded a good portion of the dialogue prior. However, with the third season, Emile Hirsch will be replacing Yelchin as the voice of Jim. CBR reports that “according to Del Toro and his creative team, they’ve found a way to uniquely insert Hirsch — who was friends with Yelchin — as the new Jim in a way that makes sense to the story.”

Diego Luna and Tatiana Maslany are also joining the cast as Krel and Aja, “two students new to the suburb of Arcadia who join in the Trollhunters’ fight against Morgana.”

Are you excited to see these three appear in Arcadia?
