‘This is misogynistic’: Trump ignores question from female interviewer, calls her ‘darling’ as fellow Republicans laugh

WASHINGTON, DC - MAY 07: U.S. President Donald Trump speaks to reporters while hosting Texas Governor Greg Abbott about what his state has done to restart business during the novel coronavirus pandemic in the Oval Office at the White House May 07, 2020 in Washington, DC. Trump talked about the announcement that the Department of Justice has dropped charges against his former national security advisor Michael Flynn, who pleaded guilty in 2017 to lying to the Federal Bureau of Investigation. Trump’s views about women have never remained hidden from the people. Since becoming a public figure, the current United States President has made several problematic comments, which highlight his perception of the female gender. Let’s also not forget about the allegations against Trump, which suggest that he was one of disgraced financier and sex offender Jeffrey Epstein’s closest friends and clients for a prolonged period.

Donald Trump is yet again making his views about women clear by passing sexist comments about a journalist. On Wednesday, at a press event at the White House with Argentine President Javier Milei, a female journalist asked Donald Trump to share his thoughts on China’s growing presence in Latin America and its impact on the United States. Trump initially smiled at the question, but eventually dismissed it by not answering. He did not just do that, but also infantilised the speaker in addition to passing a highly sexist comment.

Looking at Vice President JD Vance, Trump exclaimed, “I just like to watch her talk.” followed by addressing the journalist, saying “, Good job. Thank you, darling” as almost everyone at the table broke into laughter.

The clip of the incident was widely circulated online, and people heavily criticised Trump’s behaviour. While the MAGA crowd found no fault with the Orange Dictator, others took note of his derogatory remarks. One person on X (previously Twitter) wrote:

“Obviously this is misogynistic, but it’s also worryingly uninhibited behaviour for someone who’s allegedly been discussing invoking the Insurrection Act.”

Others also shared similar sentiments, noting that Trump’s behaviour in the matter was not surprising. “If he’s not epsteined I don’t know who is,” one individual remarked, expressing confidence that Trump’s name would appear in the Epstein files. “Trump is such a casual misogynist. That’s how you know he’s in the Epstein files. He treats all women as objects that only exist for his amusement,” wrote another.

Trump was also recently criticised under similar circumstances. While talking of Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt, Trump focused on her external appearance, stating, “That face… and those lips, they move like a machine gun.” Yikes!
