‘The survivors deserve justice’: Jasmine Crockett isn’t letting Pam Bondi off the hook just because she’s been fired
‘Enough is enough.’

In a bold move, Rep. Jasmine Crockett (D-Texas) announced on Tuesday, April 15, 2026, that Democrats will move to hold former Attorney General Pam Bondi in contempt for failing to appear for a deposition as part of the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee’s Jeffrey Epstein probe. This decision comes after Bondi refused to show up for the deposition, citing her recent dismissal from her role as Attorney General.
According to The Hill, Crockett took to X to express her frustration, stating, “Pam Bondi refused to show up for today’s Oversight deposition — defying our lawful subpoena. We couldn’t care less that she was fired from her job as Attorney General. She is responsible for leading the White House cover-up of the Epstein files.”
Bondi was subpoenaed last month, before President Trump dismissed her on April 2. Less than a week after her departure, a spokesperson said the Department of Justice indicated that Bondi would not comply with the initial subpoena. The committee had previously voted to hold former President Bill Clinton and former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton in contempt for similar reasons. They agreed to interviews with the committee to avoid a full House vote on the matter.
This panel is committed to holding Bondi accountable for her actions
The House has voted to hold three sitting attorneys general in contempt: Eric Holder, Bill Barr, and Merrick Garland. Rep. Robert Garcia (D-Calif.), the ranking member on the panel, said Tuesday that Bondi is “evading a lawful congressional subpoena” by failing to appear “for a deposition about the Epstein files and the White House cover-up.”
The committee’s investigation into the Epstein files has been ongoing for some time, and lawmakers have faced criticism from victims of the late sex offender for the delayed release of files related to Epstein in accordance with a law that compelled the department to make them publicly available. Victims have also slammed the DOJ for redacting the names of individuals connected to Epstein and publicizing their own information.
In a statement, Garcia said, “This subpoena applies to [Bondi] regardless of her title. She must appear before the Committee, and if she continues to ignore the law, Oversight Democrats will move forward with contempt proceedings immediately. We will fight until there is true accountability and justice.”
Former Cabinet members, including Barr and former Labor Secretary Alex Acosta, have already appeared before the panel as part of its investigation. Rep. Nancy Mace (R-S.C.), who introduced the motion to subpoena Bondi, said last week that she expected the former AG’s deposition to be “rescheduled” in a timely fashion. However, in light of Bondi’s refusal to appear, Mace’s statement now seems like a warning to Bondi to comply with the subpoena.
Meanwhile, Rep. James Comer, R-Ky., the chairman of the House Oversight Committee, had attempted to reschedule the hearing, saying that he was in contact with Bondi’s private attorney. However, Garcia stated that if they do not hear back from Bondi in the next couple of days, they will begin the contempt proceeding.
Garcia also warned that interim AG Todd Blanche is next in line to face contempt proceedings
Rep. Garcia stated, “We will hold Pam Bondi accountable. She must comply. And believe me, Todd Blanche is next.” This statement highlights the committee’s commitment to holding both Bondi and Blanche accountable for their actions. Garcia said, “People have to be held accountable for the laws that we pass in the Congress and the subpoenas that we put in place.”
The move to hold Pam Bondi in contempt is a significant step forward in the investigation into the Epstein files. The committee’s determination to hold her accountable, despite her attempts to avoid the deposition, is a testament to their commitment to justice and accountability. As Crockett said, “The survivors deserve justice — and we will get answers. Enough is enough.”
