I Saw the First 18 Minutes of ‘The Mandalorian & Grogu’ At CinemaCon and It Was Glorious

Disney closed out CinemaCon this year and while everyone was on the edge of their seats for footage of Avengers: Doomsday, we also got an extensive look at the latest film from the Star Wars franchise. The first 18 minutes of The Mandalorian & Grogu were shown and I have missed my son and husband!

Director and co-writer Jon Favreau came out on stage to talk about the new film, sharing how excited he was to finally make a Star Wars movie. But then surprised the audience by showing us the beginning of the film to get us excited about it. And it was so fun seeing where Din Djarin (Pedro Pascal) and Grogu are after all of this time.

If you want to remain unspoiled, stop reading now! I will describe what happens! The footage began with a man trying to keep the love of the Empire alive. Din is not happy about it and quickly swoops in with his son to take matters into his own hands. It is an action-packed beginning taking out AT-AT walkers, destroying the Empire one shot at a time.

Plus, you know, it was Din Djarin doing what he does and looking hot while it happens. But it was really sweet seeing how Din and Grogu know how to work side by wide. Grogu even does a barrel roll at one point when the two land on the top of a walker! It was fun!

With references to the show, including Zeb being a major part of Din and Grogu’s quest, as well as meeting Sigourney Weaver’s Colonel Ward.

It feels great having them back

Part of what I love about The Mandalorian is the dynamic between Grogu and Mando. Watching the opening of The Mandalorian & Grogu just reminded me why this show has really brought light to the Star Wars franchise. And watching what Favreau and company created with the beginning of The Mandalorian & Grogu reminded me just how great this story is.

Fans of the series can experience the latest film in the franchise on May 22.
